Setting ringtones as text tones and vice versa has been available in iOS for as far back as I can remember. They probably just changed it so users would find it easier to find the right tones, but like someone else in this thread said, it causes issues with iTunes tones which may be classified as "ringtones" but may in fact be alert tones. I have several such tones, and fortunately those that were assigned to contacts or other notifications have stayed the same after the update, as long as I don't change them.
