This just happened to me this morning.
The voice was turned down to nothing.
All I did was hold down the volume up button, while rubbing my finger around
the screen. I rubbed around the screen to cause VO to work.

I can hear the time and date. I am getting a message that says

Have you tried it with a headset plugged in? Sounds like maybe the volume got
turned way down.
Does your phone vibrate if you move the mute switch to the back?
