This is where we use a previous phone, or get an iPad Mini, which has bigger speaker output than a phone if you don't want it connected to other bits; though bluetooth and speakers is almost agiven these days. I keep meaning to move into a spare 6+ MrsH abandoned, so I took for repair. Agree

If battery life is the concern why not take the money that you would spend on the iPod and buy an external battery or something like the Mophie juicepack, which is a case with a built in external battery. Or you can take that money and upgrade to an iPhone with more storage, or the 7 or 8 plus
