You can do a repair of the iTunes under help in the main iTunes program by
choosing Diagnostics. This will allow you to run various tests. With Jaws I
end up having to use the JawsCursor and clicking the next buttons during the
process. I'm not sure if the common keystroke of alt plus N

Mobile Device Support and enable it again.
