Are you talking about emails or text messages.
If emails, before you open the thread, flick up with one finger until you hear
expand thread.
Double tap.
Now, the messages are separated.
As for printing, double tap the more actions button, where you would go to
reply, and keep flicking right
The problem outlined below is merely a lack of knowledge on my part, not

Some of my family members exchange group conversations. What is the
best way to isolate individual messages from the conversation for later
