I typically use iBooks, but my use case is probably different than yours. I use braille only, and the Kindle app is a much better reading experience for me with braille. The main reason is that though you can have pages turn automatically when you reach the end of the text on that page, Kindle does

I have read many books in the Kindle app. While there are a couple things I don't like about it, I generally rely on Kindle for getting current books I want to read. The other day I was looking at the iBooks app. I like the page navigation option at the bottom of the screen, but don't seem to
