got a fresh start when holding the power button in for the 4 or
5 seconds. With the 8 Plus, if I go to the trouble of turning it off, I have

Adam, try holding the button down for 15 to 30 seconds. That should work.

Once I've turned off my phone I seem to have trouble starting it again.
I had to press the power button around 20 times (with varying amounts of
how long it is pressed) before the phone restarted.
My sighted wife has a similar issue with her phone where she has to
