That is true! Thanks God that I am not picky! I couldn’t afford to sit long
with my muscle degeneration. So I need a wireless headset for my meetings.
As long as it works well particularly muting or unmuting myself.

One example: so many people love their Airpods and at this stage I

You have to go into the Alexa app on your phone and hook the Alexa device up to
the Wi-Fi of your current/new location. The Alexa speaker connects to Wi-Fi
just like your iPhone or any other device by recognizing the Wi-Fi name and
then of course you have to provide the credentials, e.g. the password of the
Wi-Fi network you want to connect to.

To do this do the following:

1. Open the Amazon Alexa app on your iPhone

2. tap on the "Devices" tab at the bottom (it is 4 of 5, so second from the
right)

3. Tab on "Echo and Alexa", this is the first item in the list of available
device groups

4. Find the Echo device you want to change and double tap on it

5. Find Wi-Fi and tap on it

6. It will display the Wi-Fi name that was last used and it should say
"Change", this is a link, tap on it and follow the instructions to select a new
Wi-Fi and enter the password when prompted.

This may not be an appropriate question for this group. Just let me know if it
isn’t.

I brought an old screenless Echo Device to a place where I am
staying. I saw nowhere in the Alexa App to take it off-line in one place and
put it on another.

The only way it will talk to me is if I turn on Bluetooth. I’d rather hook it
up to the wifi where I am staying.

Amazon for customers with disabilities says my inquiry is not suitable for a
phone call but I am too tired now to struggle with this more now.

Alexa on wifi at different location

2023-05-03 Thread deidreandlouise
This may not be an appropriate question for this group. Just let me know if
it isn't.

I brought an old screenless Echo Device to a place where I am
staying. I saw nowhere in the Alexa App to take it off-line in one place and
put it on another.

The only way it will talk to me is if I turn on Bluetooth. I'd rather hook
it up to the wifi where I am staying.

Amazon for customers with disabilities says my inquiry is not suitable for a
phone call but I am too tired now to struggle with this more now.

RE: Wireless pc headset specialized for zoom meeting

2023-05-03 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
But I doubt that would work with a PC and offer functionality like mute/unmute
and so on, and then of course there is the fact it costs a fortune.
The subject was " Wireless pc headset specialized for zoom meeting", a bit
off-topic for the Viphone list, but I think we all are guilty of getting a bit
off-topic at times.

I use my airpods max for zoom meetings when I use my iPhone for a zoom call.
They work quite well.

And. Let them know, as they requested, how I feel about their app; which I have

Re: Apple Arcade

2023-05-03 Thread Wayne Merritt
Yes, there is one Arcade game which is mostly accessible. It is called
Dear Reader, and is a game of literary word play. You work through
word puzzles based on classic literature, such as Alice in Wonderland.
Nearly all of the puzzles are accessible, or at least the ones I
played were. There may be a few unlabeled buttons, but from what I
could tell they did not affect game play. I last used Apple Arcade a
year ago, so perhaps more games have become accessible, or more of
Dear Reader. I have it on my iPhone now since I purchased an iPad a
couple of months ago, but I have yet to play it.

Good luck,
Wayne

I have even encountered a problem with an app called livestream2, this is an
app for dab+ and wifi internet radios. With undok or this app, you can search
fort he device, pair i tand manage it from your phone or ipad.

When I search for DAB+ stations, voiceover tells me only 15 stations were found
however more dan 190 are on the display.

Then I have to put off voiceover, do a three finger sweep above, reload
Voiceover and I can search through all the found items.

No, but if you touch the vertical scrollbar on the right of the screen you can
simply flick up or down with one finger.

When I have encountered those lists, I found I have to touch ay item in the
list on the left side of the screen to make sure VO is focused in the list;
then do the three finger swipe up. If you touch where it says vertical scroll
bar, the three finger swipe does nothing.

number, which is generally at 90 or 100. I flick up or down with one

flick with one finger to the right, past the vertical scroll bar, it

moves on to something else. Like I said, I know there is more to this

extensive list than what I'm getting.

This same thing happens with other lists or things that are more

extensive than what I'm getting. I've seen it on other apps too when I

am just scrolling or browsing.

How can I expand or get more? Is there a voice over command for this?

RE: smart bread makers or else physically accessible

2023-05-03 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I have a Kitchen Aid stand mixer for the mixing/kneading process since my taste
in bread is a bit different. I am originally from Germany and even though I was
born there and lived there until I was 22, I am 56 now which means I have been
in Canada for 34 years versus my 22 years in Germany. But my taste for heavy
German-style sourdough bread has not changed. I make crusty rolls and do a lot
of German-style cakes, but I have not yet tried my hand at real sourdough bread
because even though I live in a very small community of a little over 5,000, we
have a very skilled bread maker here. She is Australian and not German, but she
has a real wood fired oven and her bread is as good as any from a traditional
German bakery and while I want to learn at some point, the fact is that she can
do it vbetter than me.
My Dad's cousin in Germany was a baker and his father was a baker and things
there are also changing as small artisan style bakeries disappear and more and
more stuff is made in large factories and sold in supermarket bakeries and so
on. I guess in many cases you like what you grow up with, I know plenty of
people here who can't understand how I like this heavy bread with a crust where
one quarter inch thick slice with a bit of ham and cheese on top fills you up,
some think it's sour and of course it has a hint of that as does all sourdough
bread, you can't toast it because it's just not that kind of bread, but if I am
away on holidays somewhere I can't get it then I can't wait for my first fresh
slice when I get home.

Hi everyone.
I just wanted to put my two cents in here.
My mom has used a bread maker to make delicious bread for at least 20 years.
She uses it to mix up and need the bread dough. She then removes the dough
from the bread maker puts it in bread pans and lets it rise that way. Then she
bakes it in the oven. She has used it to make all kinds of bread white bread
Italian bread wheat bread rye bread banana bread all kinds and they all were
delicious

I don't want to talk anybody out of buying a bread maker if they really think

However, I would like to point out that making the kind of basic bread you can
make in a bread maker is really quite easy and really all the bread maker does
is to combine 3 tasks which is to mix/knead, rise/proof the dough and then bake.
You still have to put the ingredients, typically flour, water, yeast,, a bit of
salt and potentially any seeds you may add into the bread maker. I would highly
recommend to read a bit about making bread, learn a few ground rules about
activating "active dry yeast" and try to mix/knead the dough, then let it rise,
punch it back down and let rise again and finally bake. It's a very satisfying
process and the results once you get the hang of it are better than what comes
out of a bread maker.
There is of course an entire different area of bread making when you start
using sour dough and making heavy bread with flour such as spelt, Red Fife,
Einkorn or other ancient grains, but that type of bread can't be made in a
bread maker anyways.

My bread maker, it was from the brand "Regal", got used maybe a dozen times and
then it sat around for 10 or 15 years before I finally sold it for $25 on
Facebook.

Re: Wireless pc headset specialized for zoom meeting

2023-05-03 Thread Marco Chan
That is true! Thanks God that I am not picky! I couldn’t afford to sit long
with my muscle degeneration. So I need a wireless headset for my meetings. As
long as it works well particularly muting or unmuting myself.

I have encountered apps like that and sometimes doing a one-finger tap and hold

I have even encountered a problem with an app called livestream2, this is an
app for dab+ and wifi internet radios. With undok or this app, you can search
fort he device, pair i tand manage it from your phone or ipad.
When I search for DAB+ stations, voiceover tells me only 15 stations were found
however more dan 190 are on the display.
Then I have to put off voiceover, do a three finger sweep above, reload
Voiceover and I can search through all the found items.

No, but if you touch the vertical scrollbar on the right of the screen you can
simply flick up or down with one finger.

When I have encountered those lists, I found I have to touch ay item in the
list on the left side of the screen to make sure VO is focused in the list;
then do the three finger swipe up. If you touch where it says vertical scroll
bar, the three finger swipe does nothing.

something that says "Vertical scroll bar", and I get a percentage
number, which is generally at 90 or 100. I flick up or down with one
finger, and it just changes the number but doesn't do much else. If I
flick with one finger to the right, past the vertical scroll bar, it
moves on to something else. Like I said, I know there is more to this
extensive list than what I'm getting.
This same thing happens with other lists or things that are more
extensive than what I'm getting. I've seen it on other apps too when I
am just scrolling or browsing.
How can I expand or get more? Is there a voice over command for this?

RE: Number of characters required for IPhone password

2023-05-03 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
There is an option to go back to a 4-digit passcode, you just have to explore
the entire screen as it's not called "Use 4-digit passcode" or something easy
like that.
There is also a button to use a more secure alpha-numeric password meaning
something using letters and numbers and more like a password than a PIN, but
just make sure you check all the buttons/options and you'll find it.

Does this mean that I would have to have a six character password if I were to

There is of course an entire different area of bread making when you start

My bread maker, it was from the brand "Regal", got used maybe a dozen times and

Logitech has a bunch of wireless headsets which all mention good Zoom
compatibility.
Headsets are such a personal thing so while redcommendations are OK to a
degree, in the end you just have to try something which is in your budget and
hope it's OK.
One example: so many people love their Airpods and at this stage I wouldn't buy

RE: Is there a VoiceOver Gesture or way to get more?

2023-05-03 Thread davycuppens
I have even encountered a problem with an app called livestream2, this is an
app for dab+ and wifi internet radios. With undok or this app, you can search
fort he device, pair i tand manage it from your phone or ipad.

When I search for DAB+ stations, voiceover tells me only 15 stations were found
however more dan 190 are on the display.

Then I have to put off voiceover, do a three finger sweep above, reload
Voiceover and I can search through all the found items.

No, but if you touch the vertical scrollbar on the right of the screen you can
simply flick up or down with one finger.

When I have encountered those lists, I found I have to touch ay item in the
list on the left side of the screen to make sure VO is focused in the list;
then do the three finger swipe up. If you touch where it says vertical scroll
bar, the three finger swipe does nothing.

Regarding my previous message, I should have also said that what I

might not be any other way though to get past those scrolling bars.
Thank you for your help.

Hi,

I am using a TV app that has an extensive catalog of TV shows or

specific channels. I brows through it, and I know there is more

listed, but it finishes or stops scrolling. From there, I get

something that says "Vertical scroll bar", and I get a percentage

number, which is generally at 90 or 100.

Tom
