Re: Average lenth of time? Installing & restarting upon iOS updates

2024-03-06 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
My 17.4 update was only one gig in size and it took no time at all to
install. I was using my unlimited data because our wifi at my house
is complete crap. Again, the update went smoothly with no issues.

RE: Average lenth of time? Installing & restarting upon iOS updates

2024-03-06 Thread Richard Turner
It depends on how large the update is for one thing.
iOS 17.0 was huge! It was over 6 GB. I know, because my phone ended up not
being on Wi-Fi and it put me over my cell data. We have 1 GB per month because
we are usually at home on Wi-Fi. But, for some reason, my iPhone 13 is often
losing the Wi-Fi even though the screen says it is on our wi-fi network.
I negotiated a reduced fee but still ended up paying more than double what we
usually pay for our mobile service that month.

And, I believe updates on iPads are often smaller than the ones on iPhones.
But, it also depends on your wi-fi speed at the time of the update.
Also, the processor speed in your device, etc.

So, there is no average time that I'm aware of. It just takes as long as it
takes.

Subject: Average lenth of time? Installing & restarting upon iOS updates

Yesterday, the time it took to apply the update and restart the IPHone when
updating to 17.4, was around 25 minutes or so, thus on my IPad, it was frairly
quick! Less than maybe 4 or 5 minutes of silence! Which brings me to my inquiry
of How long should it take, on average, once the update is downloaded
(where the IPHone says that the update will pstart in so amount of time, or if
you want to update now or later), until the IPHone restarts? Because ever since
having this sE2020, the applying process has taken on average, about
from 4–7 to 10/12 minutes at the most!, with the exception of when updating
17.0, the time was nearly 40 minutes! So on what factors does this downtime
depend on? It’s so frustrating there’s no accessible way to know what’s going
on, except waiting and hoping!

RE: Voice Over bug with Rotor Languages and the Status Bar on iOS 17.4

2024-03-06 Thread Richard Turner
What I find interesting about this is that on my 13 pro, I use Tom Enhanced
most of the time but have Ava set as my default.

I touch the status bar and it is always Tom speaking. It has never switched to
Ava in iOS 17.4.

I guess I’m lucky.

Hi All

I've just installed iOS and iPad OS 17.4 and I've noticed a really strange bug
with rotor languages and the status bar. When you are using another rotor
language, other than the default, every time you move to the status bar, by
either placing your finger on it, or using the shortcut. VO will switch to the
default language when reading. Then when I move away from the status bar, it
reverts to whatever language I'm currently using. I've tried uninstalling then
re installing the rotor languages and still the problem persists. This occurs
on both my iPad mini 6 and my iPhone 14 pro.

It's not a total disaster, but I'm hoping that Apple will release another
update soon, and hopefully the bug will go away.

Hi all,

My wind gauge(anemometer) has stopped
reporting.  It has only been up for about 2 or 3 weeks.  The
batteries should not be the issue but I haven't gotten it back
down to check them yet.

Has anyone else had an issue like this?
What did it turn out to be?  Just hoping to get some ideas
before climbing back up on the roof.

Voice Over bug with Rotor Languages and the Status Bar on iOS 17.4

2024-03-06 Thread Debbie April Yuille
Hi All

I've just installed iOS and iPad OS 17.4 and I've noticed a really strange
bug with rotor languages and the status bar. When you are using another
rotor language, other than the default, every time you move to the status
bar, by either placing your finger on it, or using the shortcut. VO will
switch to the default language when reading. Then when I move away from the
status bar, it reverts to whatever language I'm currently using. I've tried
uninstalling then re installing the rotor languages and still the problem
persists. This occurs on both my iPad mini 6 and my iPhone 14 pro.

It's not a total disaster, but I'm hoping that Apple will release another
update soon, and hopefully the bug will go away.

Cheers

Debbie
