Re: Relaxation App for Help Getting to Sleep
That is great news. I enjoyed the sounds available through this app but was frustrated by its shortcomings with voice over. Sounds like the developers have addressed all that and I will be using this app a lot more. Kimber On 6/14/15, Gadget Girl geek.gadgetg...@gmail.com wrote: Hello Everyone. When the inquiry occurred in March, I was using the app, Relax Melodies, and then someone mentioned the NatureSpace app, so I downloaded it and have been using it ever since. At first the App was a bit quirky while using VoiceOver, but a recent update has changed all of that. The NatureSpace App is totally accessible and VoiceOver users can access all menus. The new enhancements to the App are enjoyable just as well. Firstly, for those of you who may not know the NatureSpace app, it's a free app. Six free tracks download with the App, and you can purchase additional titles through their in-App store, located within the App. You can listen to a short preview of all tracks. You can purchase ones you like, and they range from 99 cents to $3.99 US dollars. Prior to the update, your list of tracks you own would get mixed with the previews, and would be tricky to delete them. Now, after the App update, all previews are a snap to delete from your library list. There are new menus too, which make navigating this App using VoiceOver very easy. There is a Console button, which gives you App information, the opportunity to submit a review on the App, email support, legal information, an opportunity to adjust your volume, use AirPlay, ability to mix the audio from this App with other Apps. You will also find the delete previews button in the Console menu. When done, you will find the done button in the top left of your screen. There is a Share button, so you can tell others about this great App. There is a Transitions timer button so you can choose your sleep and/or wake ambiance. You can get details about the track you are playing by selecting the Detail button. You can select the DisplayFolder Editing Controls button to manipulate your tracks. In that menu, you can put your tracks in alphabetical order, group them by category, or arrange them any way you wish. You can also create folders, name the folder whatever you wish and put your desired tracks in the folder. This feature was impossible in the previous version when using VoiceOver, but now it's so simple! If you make a mistake or change your mind, not to worry, there is an Edit button and Reorder button. I enjoy this App and use it daily. It's not only great for sleeping ... it's great for reading, studying, meditation, etc. The catalog boasts many categories such as Mornings, Afternoons, Evenings, Thunderstorms, Rain, Island, Wind, Waves, Rivers, Abstract, and Sci-Fi. They also offer collections, such as the ThunderGod and Solutions collections, for a cost-effective means. The Developers did a really good job on this App for us VoiceOver users. I got all the rain tracks and many others, and I must say, I enjoy them all. Hello Ren. They have a track named Zen Wind Water, found in their Abstract category. Why don't you take a listen to it. For me, I think the wind is too loud and overpowers the wind chimes, but the wind does die down so you can hear the chimes more clearly. I have written to the developer to ask them if they could do one without the wind. Maybe if more people request this, they would be more inclined to do so. Have a good day. Recommended: Lizone Extra Pro battery for Laptops and USB Devices
Just tested the Lizone Extra Pro Battery Pack with my iDevices and Macbooks, and it's absolutely awesome. They claim it can charge an iPhone 10 times and a Macbook 1.5 times. I've managed to charge my Macbook Pro with it from 5% to 100% and there's still charge in the battery remaining. Incredible device and highly recommended for those who travel a lot and need external power with them - but especially for Macbook users. The size of it is just a little bigger than a Macbook keyboard. It's obviously not pocket sized, but it's portable enough to fit in a briefcase/laptop bag. Only downside: As with the majority of other batteries, there is no way of knowing how much charge is remaining besides the lights on the front. You'll have to deal with that, I recommend charging the battery after it's been used for a few hours portably. The battery also comes with connectors for laptops with rounded ports, so will charge HP laptops etc. It comes with a nice case made out of some smooth material, so it's easy to carry around. It has an aluminum enclosure which looks awesome beside a Mac. Again, highly recommended for those who travel a lot with their Macbooks or for those who have constant power outages. -Shaf -- The following information is important for all members of the viphone list. Re: How do you place a call on hold and answer another and where do I find those auto text messages you can send?
I believe you are asking about doing audio text messages. You will find the record button to the right of your normal text field when composing a text message. - Original Message - From: Sieghard Weitzel To: viphone@googlegroups.com Sent: Monday, June 15, 2015 12:07 PM Subject: RE: How do you place a call on hold and answer another and where do I find those auto text messages you can send? Jen, If you use the Apple Earpods, you can simply press the middle button (Answer/Hang Up) and it will place the caller you are speaking with on hold and answer the incoming call. If you are not using a headset, you have 2 buttons when a call is coming in while you are already on a call. I can’t recall the exact wording, but it is something like “Hold and Accept” and “Hang Up and Accept”. Obviously the hang up and accept will hang up on the current caller and accept the second caller. The Hold and Accept will do exactly that, it will put the current caller on hold and accept the second call. I believe a 2-finger double tap will also do that, so basically you just use the gesture to answer a call and it will put the first caller on hold. Maybe somebody else can confirm since I usually use the buttons. Once you are done with the second caller and want to switch back to the first, you have to find the “Hold” button. If your keypad is active, you first have to hide the keypad, then find the button which says “Selected, Hold” or something like that. This will switch back to the first caller and put the second caller on hold or, if you already hung up on the second caller, it will switch back to your original call. As for sending short preset text messages, that is possible, but of course you have to be very fast. While your phone is ringing, there is a button called “Message” and if you double tap on it you are presented with 3 preset text messages and a “Custom” button which just opens the Messages app where you could type in a message. By default they are as follows: Sorry, I can’t talk right now. I’m on my way. Can I call you later? Each of those is a button and double tapping on it will select and send it, no further taps are required. You can change these to say anything you like in Settings, Phone, Respond with Message. Here you see these 3 messages, each is an edit field and you can go into edit mode and change the text or delete it altogether and type in something you want. Of course if somebody calls you from a landline they may not get your message or, if the provider supports text to speech, they may later get a voice mail which contains a TTS version of your message. Anyhow, definitely not a great option unless you know the second caller is calling from a cell phone and will get your auto message instantly. Like I said, using the Message feature as a Voiceover user requires a bit of practice, you have to take the phone away from your ear and wait the small amount it takes to switch to speakerphone, of course if you are talking to somebody you probably want to tell them first to hold on a moment because you have another call otherwise they may continue talking while you are trying to find the Message button and listen to Voiceover and it will be on speaker, then you have to find the button which is pretty easy, it’s at the bottom left of the screen, then I believe focus is automatically placed on the “Cancel” button so if you want the first of your 3 messages, you have to find it by dragging your finger around the screen or swipe left past the “Custom” button and the other 2 messages etc. On the answer screen when a call comes in is also a “Remind me later” button in addition to the Message and Answer buttons. This button allows you to select a time interval so if you are on a call and use it you can set yourself a reminder to call back after whatever preset times there are. RE: How do you place a call on hold and answer another and where do I find those auto text messages you can send?
Hello Jen, To place a call on hold to allow you to answer another one, remove the phone from your ear and find the button near the bottom right of the screen that says hold and accept. As to the message when someone calls, yes this is possible on the iPhone by double tapping on the message button when you receive a call. This button will allow you to send prefilled messages such as the one you described or to create your own. Back in March of this year there were a few inquiries about relaxation apps. I thought I'd take this time to send an update about the NatureSpace app, if anyone is interested. Just wanted to share this App with those of you who may not be aware of the total make-over of the NatureSpace app. Naturespace - Relax Meditate Focus Sleep and Rest with 3D Sounds, sonic therapy for anxiety and stress relief by Holographic Audio Theater https://appsto.re/us/n4IOs. RE: Ripping With Itunes
Hello Gary, While I am no stranger to using iTunes for Windows as a means of editing/adding meta data for my personal podcast files, when it comes to ripping CDs or in some cases wanting to import MP3 files as audio books, I prefer to use Windows Media Player for ripping and Windows Explorer for editing/adding the meta data, if necessary. I find that Windows Media Player is much more accurate when it comes to associating public information with the right sound files--especially when it comes to ripping language discs. As a side note, generally speaking, you can forget about updating any publically held database. It just doesn't work that way. Information gets added to the various public databases as the administrators of those databases see fit. Sometimes it takes years for the various databases to be updated with the information for a particular artist, label, or album, if ever. Regardless, the truth of the matter is that adding/editing meta data can be very tedious work which is why it is extremely important that you backup your tagged files. I will leave it up to you to learn how to use Windows Media Player as a tool for ripping, should you choose, but the broad strokes for tagging any file, via Windows Explorer, is as follows. Please note that you can tag multiple files simultaneously. 1. From within Windows Explorer, locate a file. 2. Right-mouse click on the file and choose Properties. 3. Select the Details Tab. 4. Edit the various items in the list. 5. Save your work by clicking OK/Apply. Finally, the only meta item for which I use iTunes, is to add the coverArt, if necessary, as that is very important to me as I like to see the album cover when selecting/playing audio files. Good luck and don't become discouraged. It's a ball about 2 inches high with a 4 inch wire sticking out ending in a 3.5 Mm jack. The speaker comes with a charging cable which ends in a USB plug for recharging the speaker. The sound quality is good enough for spoken word audio books or NLS books. On a full charge, the speaker gives around 8 hours battery life. In my opinion, there are other choices. The round ball when not being recharged or plugged in can be easily knocked off a desk or nightstand. Even a small fold out foot would of fixed the short coming. If your willing to put up with that minor issue it's a nice talking point and may even help you meet new friends.
