I think the last big sound scheme change in Windows was Windows Vista, but let's go with Windows 7 in 2009. Sure that's 8 years, but Windows goes back to the early 90's. I wouldn't want the iPhone sound schemes to change just to change, but that doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement.
