RE: iPhone xr

2020-03-09 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Yeah I wear shades a lot as I can still see bright light

And my 11 pro max works both with or without them on.

However it struggles when there is bright light shining on my face or
reflecting on the screen.

Believe it or not, my 11 can do face ID with me with or without glasses; that
surprised me. I guess it just knows the oldest face in the iPhone world.

It’s the same as any other iPhone to set up.

It’s the cheaper option to the 10 when they were released.

No home button

So uses face id,

Other than that it’s the same setup as any other iPhone.

To turn voiceover on for the first time press the power button,

That is the one on the right side when looking at the screen

Press it three times quickly and vo should start up.

I am not familiar if the model from Independent Living is fully automated, but
the Qardio is, it has batteries and all you have to do is put it on, then sit
back and relax and with your other hand tap the start button in the app. It
will then inflate and do everything automatically. You can even set it to do 3
measurements and it will then take the average.

Hello friends.

I apologise if this topic has been discussed but I have a particular reason for
asking advice.

If you will allow me to explain.

I was recently admitted into hospital where I was diagnosed with
Pyelonephritis, and sepsis. During my stay in hospital I was also found to
have an atrial fibrillation. They are not sure whether the heart issue was
caused by the sepsis and I have to undergo further tests.

My Apple Watch can help me check my heart rate, but what options are there for
a totally blind person to check blood pressure.

I would appreciate your recommendations and thank you in advance for them.

Thank you for reading my post too.

Re: Dilemma with Wake-up Alarm Song

2020-03-09 Thread Richard Turner
Well, I just did an experiment and you are right.
I set a new alarm, picked a song from my iPhone library.
And, instead of playing the song, it played the default irritating sound file.
I'll write Apple Accessibility and also go to the apple.com/feedback site and
enter a comment.
I don't know if this is a change with iOS 13, or what.

Is there a way to contact Uber eats delivery person?

2020-03-09 Thread Kathy Brandt
Since I couldn’t figure it out, I had to hijack one of the other fields where I
could write, and then call the restaurant to find out if the delivery person
was even there. One other time when this happened I had come across a phone
number for Uber eats, but couldn’t get to it somehow this time.

Re: Looking for A Simple Unlimited Voice Recording App for iOS.

2020-03-09 Thread englishrider91
The RecUp app is also a great one. Again, speech needs to be muted if she
doesn't want it to be picked up in the recording. The nice thing about this app
is that the only button on the screen when recording is the stop button, so
that makes things very easy.

Thanks,
Ari

I actually bought my XR because of its bigger screen and lower price. I like
this screen size for Braille Screen Input. And I can't see at all, so having a
technically better, if smaller, screen wasn't important to me; I was happy to
gain a bigger one in exchange for some reduced visual quality. :)

RE: iPhone xr

2020-03-09 Thread Carolyn
I could say the same about the 11. I studied thoroughly what to do in place of
a Home Button, and to my husband's utter shock, I had not one problem, just got
the thing, started using it. Good thing, he hasn't the slightest idea in the
world how to.

He was having a problem with his phone, so I put mine on the bar, got the
contact open for him and said call. He just sort of looked at the thing; I had
speech off. So, I turned speech back on, made the call, turned it off, so he
could go through the prompts, and he finally got it done. They got the message
for his prescription too.

resetting an iPad mini

2020-03-09 Thread Donald Raikes
Hi,

My team at work has an iPad mini that I was given charge of for a
while. I signed in with my appleId and password so i could customize
the iPad for the work I was doing.

Recently I had to pass the iPad off to another team member, but forgot
to sign out .
My team mate wants to reset the iPad so he can customize it to his
needs, but he keeps running into the problem where he has to provide
my apple password. He doesn't want to know my password, but we are in
different states.

Is there any way I can remotely sign off of the iPad or disconnect it
from my appleID?
When I go into my iPhone and go to settings and my account in the find
my section the iPad mini is not listed just my iPhone my two windows
computers and my new iPad.

I suppose I could set a temporary password for my apple account and
let him sign out then reset my password which might be the best route
to go, but is there a better/different way to accomplish the same
task?

Thanks,
Donald

Yes, it has a very large Velcro surface and can definitely be adjusted as tight
as you want.
Of course the entire unit is all part of the cuff so it may seem bulky.

RE: iPhone xr

2020-03-09 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Many have said that over the years about various iPhone models, mostly the S
models like the 4S which was considered to be the best at the time, then the 5S
and 6S and also the 8, all have been considered to be very good models as is
the iPhone 11 now which beats the battery life of an XR and of course is even
snappier and has the faster second generation Face Id.

the 10R is one of the best iPhones I've ever owned. It has awesome battery
life, very nice sound and it's fast and snappy. Getting used to the lack of
home button and gestures is simple and easy once you've spent a few minutes
with the phone. I honestly think this is the best iPhone Apple has ever made
for both stability and reliability.

Because of no home button it of course also does not have Touch Id, but uses
Face Id for unlocking the phone (if you set it up) and the PIN is still
required when the phone is rebooted or if Face Id fails a number of times.
If you get a new XR and want to start Voiceover to set it up you have to press
that side button 3 times quickly just like you would have pressed the home
button 3 times quickly on the phones which had one.
The rest is pretty much the same except that you should probably either get
somebody to show you the gestures you need to learn to replace the home button,
e.g. getting out of an app back to the home screen, bringing up the app
switcher etc. or check Applevis for Podcasts about this.

Best regards,
Sieghard

RE: Blood pressure monitors question?

2020-03-09 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I am not familiar if the model from Independent Living is fully automated, but
the Qardio is, it has batteries and all you have to do is put it on, then sit
back and relax and with your other hand tap the start button in the app. It
will then inflate and do everything automatically. You can even set it to do 3
measurements and it will then take the average.

Best regards,
Sieghard

Yes I have noticed it’s when there is activity nearby. Why is this and how do I

Subject: A Question for Safari for iOS 13 Users Regarding How To Display Hidden
ToolBars

Hello All,

Rather than engaging in a lengthy explanation as to why, I'll just list the
steps that lead to my dilemma. With VoiceOver enabled:

1.
In Safari for iOS 13.x, go to a website that is Google based; such as
mail.google.com, calendar.google.com, Contacts.google.com, etc. You can also
try a site like Zillow.com etc. Some sites do and some sites do not cause the
following scenario so it just depends.

2.
>From the Safari Share Sheet, select the Add to HomeScreen option and save the
>site.

3.
Now, close all of the tabs in Safari and then close the app, itself.

4.
>From your iOS 13.x HomeScreen, select the newly saved website. You will
>notice that all Safari ToolBars, on both the top and bottom of the display,
>are hidden.

Question: How does one get the ToolBars to be displayed in the current Safari
window?

All replies greatly appreciated.

Mark

Thank you for reading my post too.

the one we use is qardio arm--note the spelling of qardio without the 'u'. It
tells systolic and dyastolic blood pressure, pulse, and informs you if your
heartbeat is not regular. It works with the iPhone, and you can export the
results list to an email address--your own or your doctors or whoever should
see it.
