Transferring music from old to new phone?

2020-05-19 Thread Gerardo Corripio
With 95% possibility of getting myself teh the new SE within the next few days,
I’m wondering if music that I’ve on this SE, if via the phone to phone transfer
offered within the setup, will the music be transferred over, or would I need
to use ITunes (connecting the new SE to the computer) to transfer the
music?Thanks for info and experiences.

Logitech Keyboard k480 and iPhone

2020-05-19 Thread Tom Cramer
Hello,
Does anyone use a Logitech k480 with their iPhone?
I'm trying to pair mine but I'm missing something.
I moved the dial to where I wanted it set and did the usual settings,
Bluetooth, and it isn't discovering the keyboard.
Am I missing a step?

It is not general release software yet. The list rules do not allow

Well, I think that the very fact we have the equalizer option in the
music settings, not to mention better and better headsets, allows for
a really nice music listening experience. What's funny to me is how it
never even occurred to me to look for such a setting with the old SE.
It always sounded good when I played a song on the speakers. Not the
best quality, but definitely good for the size of the phone and the
sound was quite full.

RE: A question for a friend with the new IPhone SE

2020-05-19 Thread Carolyn
If he doesn't pick it up soon enough, of course, it then would go to VoiceMail.
Sometimes, I leave my phone by my chair in the living room. Then I'm back here
at the computer. Phone rings. I run. If I don't make it in time, the call goes
to VoiceMail.

Check under settings, display and brightness, AutoLock that it is set for at
least 5 minutes.
It sounds like it is on 30 seconds.
Also, if he has it near his head, or his hand covering the upper half of the
phone, the screen will not respond due to the proximity sensor.
It should go to speaker phone if he either pulls it away from his head or
passes his hand over the upper half of the phone.
Then, he should be able to access the keypad.
As for it going to voice mail when he picks it up, he must be pressing the side
switch or something.
I've never had that happen on any iPhone.
Apple Accessibility has a UK number that I sent out a while back, if needed,
I'll find it and send again if that would help.

He might also go to Accessibility and disable Shake to undo.

Also, when he wants it off speaker, he might put it to his ear and flick to the

Re: program to navigate by headings and open links?

2020-05-19 Thread Richard Turner
If you are talking about on an iDevice, I am not sure there are any.
Jaws on a computer does that quite nicely in MS-WORD.
If you converted it to ePub, Voice Dream Reader would; but I don't think it
tracks the heading markup in word.

A question for a friend with the new IPhone SE

2020-05-19 Thread Malcolm Parfitt
Hello friends,

A friend of mine has recently received his new iPhone SE, his first Apple
device.

Due to the current virus situation here in the UK we cannot get together for me
to help him get used to it.

There are two issues with his Phone App that I have not experienced with all my
iPhones.

Firstly, when on a call his SE appears to lock itself. It does not switch
between speaker phone and normal operation when moved to and from his ear.
When on speaker phone, he has no VoiceOver feedback so cannot find or activate
the End Call button or enter digits on the phone’s keypad. It appears that the
device locks itself when on a call as pressing the Home button VoiceOver is
restored and he can use other apps and so on while on a call.

The other issue is that if he lifts his phone off a table when it rings to
answer it the call is sent to his voice mail. Raise To Wake is disabled.

Any suggestions welcome.

program to navigate by headings and open links?

2020-05-19 Thread Adam Morris

Hi all,
I'm looking for a program that can move by headings in a word file and
then if there is a link open Safari.

I've tried office 365 but a document seems to be on one line only.
Any help appreciated.
TIA.

I would get a white SE, if I was ordering one. My phone is space gray, I think
that is kind of like the old black phones, but it is covered by a pretty
turquoise case.

RE: what are good non glass screen protectors

2020-05-19 Thread Carolyn
James, you'd have to get the glass centered right above the phone, try a couple
of inches. Once you are sure you have it dead center, that the ear piece at the
top is right and all, go for it. You'd have to be very deliberate and careful,
but I definitely think it is possible.

RE: what are good non glass screen protectors

2020-05-19 Thread Carolyn
I think that could be right. We bought our tablet from a blind person -
wonderful tablet, all good about everything, except that my husband said, when
it is off, he can see that bubble, you mentioned. It is a plastic screen
protector. I told him, just remove it, but he said it was OK.

My experience was exactly the opposite. I found glass screen protectors so much
easier to line up and apply. The plastic screen protectors, since they're
flexible, are so much harder to line up and apply with out ending up with
bubbles, at least for me.

RE: what are good non glass screen protectors

2020-05-19 Thread chaltain
My experience was exactly the opposite. I found glass screen protectors so much
easier to line up and apply. The plastic screen protectors, since they're
flexible, are so much harder to line up and apply with out ending up with
bubbles, at least for me.

Re: Smart Playlists on iOS or iPad OS

2020-05-19 Thread Richard Turner
Hi,
My preferred method is to add the music to the iTunes library and sync the
device with iTunes making sure that you have either checked sync all music, or
at least the music you wish to have on your device is checked.

Some people use a program called WAlTR2. But, since it cannot do anything
without iTunes installed, I choose to use iTunes.
You could also put the music on DropBox and play it that way, but you won’t
have it as part of your music library on your phone.

I’m not sure paying $2.99 for an app that does what Apple Music app does
already makes all that much sense unless it is much easier to use than the
standard Apple interface.

I am a big user of smart playlists. I found this app in the app store and I'm
curious if this is a solution.

Re: Smart Playlists on iOS or iPad OS

2020-05-19 Thread Wayne Merritt
I've used Apple Music to put various play lists together and stream
music. It takes time, but I've got around 10 play lists, some with
hundreds of songs on them. I can add several songs or whole albums to
my play lists. And, I don't have to deal at all with iTunes. There are
settings in Music to download songs directly to your phone or store
them in the cloud.

Be well,
Wayne Merritt

2020-05-19 Thread Richard Turner
That app is still assuming you are using iTunes to get the music onto your
device.
And, you can still copy ringtones to your device manually, but you need iTunes
installed.
I’m not sure paying $2.99 for an app that does what Apple Music app does
already makes all that much sense unless it is much easier to use than the
standard Apple interface.

The closest thing to recording a phone call is by using Skype. When you start
the call there will be a more info button in the top right hand corner and the

I hope this helps.

spread fake news for purpose so they must have a dev or beta profile on
their phones because it really is true it has been released for devs.
That is like I will start a posting! Hi you guys I've just bought the new

I am just joking.
Ios13.5 will come out when Apple is releasing it. And that is not now. Apple

dictation functions with and without Siri, editing and writing functions and
the rotor are manually not strictly with Bluetooth or braille keyboards are
thoroughly tested in all kinds of apps from Safari to various mail programs
and so onin regard to these sorts of things I find voiceover very inconsistent.
some of the old dictation corks are also still there such as when you dictate a
message it puts the sameline in numerous times. Part of that may have to do
with dictation being designed to only take a few lines of textDdictated in a
mail message or text message. That's my guess anyway. i'm wondering if the
rotor and 13.4.1 is also designed to be used differently because it no longer
functions the way it once did. And it's not accurate where it says it it is
when you just turned it to words maybe you get lines and when you try and… it's
it's crazy.
is there a typical length of time in which this testing goes on?Who qualifies
as a beta Who qualifies as a beta tester? Someone who knows the iOS inside out
I would imagine. Many of you are very good at that.
I have nothing to lose by updating the new SE with any new update since I find
these functions have been greatly impacted negatively in 13 4.1 and wont update
the 6S which is functioning better to even 13.4.1. i'm pretty tired of what
I'll just call the cursor putting things where it's not actually saying it is
like the D as the first letter of my name which I typed in followed by the
other characters which ones up at the end of the word for some reason. And
other things like that continually happen.
my new keyboard hasn't arrived yet but Kayce did. So it's definitely not the
same size as Son a normal desktop PC keyboard but that doesn't necessarily

Re: My SE 2020 Experience so far

2020-05-19 Thread Richard Turner
There are a ton of equalizer apps in the app store.
I have no idea how accessible any of them are.
Most are subscription based from my brie exploration.
Perhaps you could check them out and see if they offer what you want.
I'm quite happy with the sound quality, so I'm not interested; but I was
curious since you mentioned the availability in Android.
I just searched for EQ in the app store.

But this is such a subjective area, its hard to say one setting is better than

Mike,

This is one of Apple’s unclear settings.

Double tap it then start flicking right through all the various options you
have.

Double tap on the one you want to try.

You can do this while listening to get immediate feedback as how it will
change the sound.

The one that says selected, is the one that will be active.

I love this idea for getting friends together in a conference type room
with video and audio. There are two ways to create a room. The first is
with the facebook app and the second way is through messenger under the
people tab. However if you set up a room, you'll have to have headphones
connected because you'll lose speech without them. When you hit the try
it button, speech goes away unless something is plugged in. If you find
yourself in this situation, you can pull up the app switcher and the
first thing that comes up should be messenger. Just close it and all
will be good.

Well I don't know how or why it happened. But I can tell you that I am not
running the developer's beta. At 1:36 PM ET this afternoon I downloaded and
installed 13.5. It did not show up on my iPad Pro nor did it show up on my
wife's iPhone or iPad Pro. So, for my iPhone 11 Pro max, it sure wasn't fake
news. I do not have a developer's beta account. The only betas I'm
