Re: Syncing Local Music Files to iPhone

2020-07-10 Thread K. Scott Carlson
I don't want to delete things from my iTunes library; I just want to get them
off my phone and not have them re-sync automatically. Deleting and then
re-adding would take just as much time as going through and manually
un-checking everything I no longer wanted synced.

Re: Syncing Local Music Files to iPhone

2020-07-10 Thread Kelly Pierce
Please re-read my earlier message. I did not suggest deleting music
from your phone. I suggested deleting music from your library, which
is managed through iTunes on your computer. In iTunes, music can be
sorted by album or artist. Instead of deleting each album separately,
you can delete an entire artist in iTunes. This will vanquish all the
music and albums from that artist. When your phone is synched to your
computer, the music will be gone.

Re: Syncing Local Music Files to iPhone

2020-07-10 Thread Kelly Pierce
Delete an entire artist from your iTunes library. This will delete all
the albums by that artist from your library. Yes, you may have to
choose between the discographies of Metallica and Motley Crue, but for
me it is not a hard choice. Apple’s biggest scam is charging $100 for
the middle tier of memory on its phones. I had a choice of 64 or 128
gigabytes. 64 extra gigs did not cost Apple anything close to $100.
The lowest size phones are a pricing gimmick.

Re: An alternative to Audible for future purchases

2020-07-10 Thread Mary Otten
Are use Audible in part at least for the reason that Sieghart mentioned, cheap
credits if you buy them all at once. There is another source for books which
doesn’t make you have a membership. It is chirp. They offer sales. Their app is
accessible. You go to their site and sign up and tell them the genres you want.
And you get a daily email highlighting books that are steeply discounted, kind
of like the daily deal from Audible. I love the service. No strings and cheap
books.

Subject: An alternative to Audible for future purchases

sGreetings,

Since Audible has been discussed a lot lately, I wanted to mention an
alternative resource that I am seriously considering.

It is called Libro.fm.

They seem to have everything Audible has, minus the audible originals of
course, at roughly the same price; but you can pick a local bookstore to
support and they get half of the money. They have a membership that gets you
one book a month for $14.99 per month, first book free.

They are non-DRM books, so can be played on any player.

I’ve not started my membership yet because the first book I want to try is not
available yet do to the pandemic. The reader hasn’t been able to go into the
studio to record the book, Riviera Gold, by Laurie R. King. The 16th book in
the Mary Russell, Sherlock Holmes series.

Finding the search area of their web site is tricky and I have given them
feedback about the accessibility, and they always respond quickly; but getting
their web designer to make changes may take longer.

Since I have not actually started my membership, I cannot speak to how easy it
is to get the books either in their app, or as I would likely due, into Voice
Dream Reader.

I’ve pasted the info about membership below if anyone wants to take the plunge.

Audible is a better deal cost wise.
However, Libro.fm is offering an alternative that allows you to support a local
bookstore, and play the recordings on any device.
I know several people who are fed up with Amazon taking over the world of books
and would rather spend a little more, and support local bookstores.
Hence, yet another personal preference issue that has no right answer.
It is just nice to have alternatives.
The last thing I will say on this matter is that I'm noticing that BARD from
the National Library Service is getting more and more of the commercially
recorded books, so if one is patient, one can get books for free; which is even
a better deal from a cost perspective.

Syncing Local Music Files to iPhone

2020-07-10 Thread K. Scott Carlson
Hello, I have a major issue with regards to syncing albums onto my iPhone from
my local iTunes library. I have a large amount of music, and not all of it can
fit on my phone at once. The big issue I have run into is that, if I want to
get rid of all of my albums and sync different ones, there is no way to do this
quickly. If I turn off the sync feature, everything is deleted; but if I turn
it back on, the albums I had previously selected in the "music" tab in the
iPhone settings in iTunes are still checked. I have to go through and uncheck
each album individually, which takes a tremendously long time. I don't have
wi-fi at the moment, so iTunes match isn't an option as I have no way to upload
the music; and I'm not planning on getting an Apple Music/Spotify subscription
right now. Can anyone offer any advice?

Are used to love to dictate before but now Siri seems to make so many more
mistakes. Do you see this happening when you dictate? with Siri?

If it is a bit of a longer message or if it contains words which SIRI may get

the message field to use dictation. You can now dictate your message in shorter
pieces and, if necessary review and make manual corrections. This is not
possible on the watch.
Of course if you are having a longer back and forth text chat whether it's in
the Messages app, on WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger it's stil easiest to use a
Bluetooth keyboard.

Hi Terry,

When sending the text from the watch you either get a don't send if it's a new
message which is a button at the right hand end of the display,

If you are replying to a text then you should get a cancel and send buttons at
the left end of the display,

The cancel and the don't send will allow you to re do your text if you need to
correct them before sending.

Hello everyone,

Is it possible to correct a text message, when sending it from the watch?

If so, what would I need to do?

I like to read, and dictate texts from my watch. It seems easier to dictate a
text from the watch. I don't know how true this really is. But it seems to work
better for me, most of the time.

However, it does mess up at times. So this is why I was wondering if I could
possibly correct the messages. It sure would be nice to be able to do this.

Thank you,

Re: An alternative to Audible for future purchases

2020-07-10 Thread Richard Turner
Audible is a better deal cost wise.
However, Libro.fm is offering an alternative that allows you to support a local
bookstore, and play the recordings on any device.
I know several people who are fed up with Amazon taking over the world of books
and would rather spend a little more, and support local bookstores.
Hence, yet another personal preference issue that has no right answer.
It is just nice to have alternatives.
The last thing I will say on this matter is that I'm noticing that BARD from
the National Library Service is getting more and more of the commercially
recorded books, so if one is patient, one can get books for free; which is even
a better deal from a cost perspective.

plan to easily get more credits. Despite the challenges of audible,
it is cheaper in the long run then this service of libro.fm.

 sGreetings,
Since Audible has been discussed a lot lately, I wanted to mention an
alternative resource that I am seriously considering.
 It is called Libro.fm.
They seem to have everything Audible has, minus the audible originals
of course, at roughly the same price; but you can pick a local
bookstore to support and they get half of the money. They have a
membership that gets you one book a month for $14.99 per month, first
 book
 free.
They are non-DRM books, so can be played on any player.
I've not started my membership yet because the first book I want to
try is not available yet do to the pandemic. The reader hasn't been
able to go into the studio to record the book, Riviera Gold, by Laurie
 R. King. The 16th book in the Mary Russell, Sherlock Holmes series.

Finding the search area of their web site is tricky and I have given
them feedback about the accessibility, and they always respond
quickly; but getting their web designer to make changes may take
 longer.
Since I have not actually started my membership, I cannot speak to how
easy it is to get the books either in their app, or as I would likely
 due, into Voice Dream Reader.

I've pasted the info about membership below if anyone wants to take
 the plunge.
