Re: Visible Wireless for those who are interested

2021-08-31 Thread Joseph Hudson
Well for now I'm good with what I got. Both of my phones are unlocked. Android
was purchased at Best Buy, and my iPhone was bought at Apple just as I
discussed on the main board this afternoon.

Re: Visible Wireless for those who are interested

2021-08-31 Thread Gordon
Visible might be a good fit for you as long as your phone is unlocked.
You can even activate through E-sim if you want. And if you use my code
3qh7Qv, you only pay $5. Once you become a customer, you'll get your own
code that you can give out for the $5 months for both you and the new
person signing up. E-sim will have you up and running in about 5
minutes. E-sim started being offered with the 10S iPhone models which
includes the SE20.

Interesting. I have the buttons as Dennis described. There’s also a button on I
guess I would call it the boom mic. It’s not on the mic exactly. It’s a push
button. I had a Plantronics that had a similar button. And as I recall, that’s
what you used to activate Siri. So I have four buttons going down the back of
the thing that fits over your ear, and then there is a push button that is on
the backside exactly opposite the ear thing that goes into your ear, if that
makes any sense. This button is on when I guess you could call the base and if
you run your finger out from there if you can extend down the boom mic. That
button I don’t know what it does yet. I haven’t tried pairing the device. I’m
not sure actually how to do that yet. Maybe if I turn it on and open my
Bluetooth, the iPhone will just see it and offer to pair

You do not have the same model as I do.

Mine has no slide switch. The power on/off is right on the hinge if you will,
of the earpiece and boom microphone. There are three buttons on the microphone
that are in the same order as what you describe.

And oddly enough, the mute button when held is for Siri.

This has a magnetic connection for the charger.

So, it could be we have the same brand, but they made some slight change?

Again, this is the GEESTRAC HSP-B3.

I will check if there is a more detailed model number.

 Hi Dennis and Mary,

Mine has no slide switch. The power on/off is right on the hinge if you will,

that are in the same order as what you describe.

And oddly enough, the mute button when held is for Siri.

This has a magnetic connection for the charger.

So, it could be we have the same brand, but they made some slight change?

Again, this is the GEESTRAC HSP-B3.

I will check if there is a more detailed model number.

Visible Wireless for those who are interested

2021-08-31 Thread Gordon
I don't think I've mentioned Visible out here, but I'm very happy with
it. It's owned by Verizon, so you get the Verizon 4GLTE network along
with access to the 5G network on supported phones. It's $40 per month,
but goes down to $25 once you join a party with more than four people
which is easy to do since anyone can join a party. I already have one
you can instantly join and get the $25 price which includes taxes. But
the cool thing about Visible is the referral codes. My referral code is
3qh7Qv. When using this code you'll get your first month for $5 which is
all you will pay since the sim card is free. The visible app is fully
accessible and you can bring your unlocked iPhone or purchase one from
them. I'm getting 85 megs down here in Dallas on the LTE network. So I
just wanted to pass this along for anyone who might want to be on
Verizon or cut some serious costs from what you might be paying for your
current service.

Absolutely! Regular streaming services get classical music very very wrong.
Prime phonic did a great job, although it could’ve been more accessible. I’m
hoping that with the Apple acquisition of prime phonic, they will fix the
accessibility shortcomings and still give us great access in a way that we can

Digital music can be challenging to manage on streaming services—the metadata

I bet you that classical music lovers will rejoice when the dedicated app will
be available especially if it is as good as Apple claims it will be and this is
not so different from when Apple moved audio books from the music app to the
Books app.

I guess I’m curious why, at least according to the article, Apple is going to
be releasing a separate app for classical music? Why is this even necessary?
Why can’t it be incorporated into Apple Music? I am definitely going to be
writing to Apple about this. Thanks for the link to the article, it was very
interesting.

Apple acquires Primephonic classical music streaming service to improve Apple
Music

Macworld.com / Roman Loyola

Apple on Monday announced that it has acquired Primephonic, a streaming media
startup with a focus on classical music. In a press release

, Apple says that users will be able to access Primephonic playlists and
exclusive audio content, and that a “dedicated experience with the best
features of Primephonic” will eventually be available.

Digital music can be challenging to manage on streaming services—the metadata
system for music files was created with popular music in mind. Apple made some
improvements years ago when Apple Music was called iTunes, but it still was
frustrating for classical music listeners. With the Primephonic acquisition,
Apple says it can provide a better experience, with the ability to search by
composer and repertoire, as well as “detailed displays of classical music
metadata, plus new features and benefits.”

Primephonic started three years ago to bring a better streaming experience for
classical music fans.

A note on the Primephonic

website seems to indicate that the three-year-old company saw the acquisition
as necessary for it to achieve its goals. “As a classical-only startup, we can
not [sic] reach the majority of global classical listeners, especially those
that listen to many other music genres as well,” said the company. “We
therefore concluded that in order to achieve our mission, we need to partner
with a leading streaming service that encompasses all music genres and also
shares our love for classical music.”

Thanks, Dennis. Yes, I have the same one. That was going to be my guess, the

Yes that's what I thought,

But the air 4 doesn't have an actual home button that we know.

It has a power button with touch id built in.

Which is what I'm thinking it might be
Or if it's not a new product then one of the older 10.5 inch iPad pro
Which wont have a touch button.

Hi.
I acquired an iPad 8th generation 10 inch, and I'm trying to set it up. This
one doesn't have a home button either.
I thought that if I just activate it, hit the power button three times, it
would turn voiceover on. I also tried activating it with Siri, but since I
haven't been able to connect it to my WiFi yet, this probably won't work.
What's the way to be able to set it up if I don't have someone sighted around?
Thank you much.

Hi, I'm not sure it works on all iPhones. I have an SE and as of two days ago,
it didn't work on mine. I had a theory that the spatial audio only worked on
iPhones 11 and above but I'm not sure.

Re: iPad 8th generation and VoiceOver

2021-08-31 Thread Richard Turner
Apparently this was not a new iPad and so someone had disabled the
accessibility shortcut or when he pressed the power button/ side switch/top
switch, whatever it is on that unit, three times nothing happens.
Hence the iTunes solution which can be done independent of any sighted
assistance.

Hi tom,

Is this iPad the ipad air 4?

You should be able to press the power button on the top edge three times
quickly to enable voiceover,

Possibly the volume is low so check that you have turned it up

Other than that you may be able to plug it in to a computer with itunes or
similar if a mac and enable voiceover that way.
