RE: iOS 17.3, Anyone?

If this is happening in the spotify app then why would it be Apple's fault?
Have you contacted Spotify?

They still haven’t fixed the jam issue on
Spotify where you can’t get off the invite friends to a jam screen.
Nonvoiceover users can just swipe down to get to the jam details screen, that
does nothing with VoiceOver on, and no this isn’t a scrub which also doesn’t
work, the swipe down gets you to an entirely new screen. And yes I’ve been
talking to Apple on this.

2024-01-25 Thread Cristobal Munoz
Yes, 17.3. I recall there being a similar bug back around when V17 was
released, but that eventually got fixed. So far has not happened and iMessages
or anywhere else where there’s an edit field. It could also be one of those
random things too…
Overall, I’m happy with the new release.

I agree with you I see no need to have all those books on your phone.

I know you love to hord audio books, but I sure hope you do have them backed up
somewhere because having them downloaded all to your phone would make for a not
very good situation if something ever happened to it. I also love audio books,
but I am way too lazy to download them from multiple sources so for some years
Audible has pretty much been my only source and by now my Audible library is a
little over 1,100 books. But for me that is what the cloud is for, I have
access to any of the books in my Audible library, but except for a few which I
am listening to or planning to listen to, they are just living happily on
Audible's server and if I want to listen to something again I can either stream
it or tap the download button and less than a minute later it's done. But to
each their own, I am in this sense also too cheap for having them all on my
phone because ethen I'd have to spend hundreds of Dollars more to get a 1 Tb
phone where for me the phone with the smallest capacity is just fine. So there
you go, cheap and lazy, but it just means I can spend my money for whatever
other toy or at times useful item I would like and lazy means I have time for
work and other stuff.

I have way to many audio books I have put on my iPhone to want to completely
wipe my iPhone and set it up from scratch. When I get my next iPhone, I'll
just do phone to phone transfer and that should work for me.

I have one major problem with iOS17 that has not been fixed.

If I choose to use British Siri voice three or four with Voiceover when I
charge my phone the voices are deleted and the device, an iPhone 15 Pro Max
reverts to using Daniel. I know I’m not alone in experiencing this issue and
until recently the same behaviour occurred with my Apple Watch Series 7.

Other than that, iOS7 has been working well for me.

No, you are not doing anything wrong. I am not exactly sure what it will be
used for, but Dynamic Island is something available for app developers to use
for certain functions. It just hasn’t been taken advantage of yet.
So time will tell if will prove to be useful or a hindrance to us.

Hi,

ONe use of Dynamic Island is for when you are not in the app and you want to
see what is playing.

1. Start some music playing
2. Get completely out of the music app. Don’t close it, just go to your home
screen or another app.
3. Now touch the Dynamic Island and see if it tells you what is playing.
Same with the timer
1. Start a timer
2. Go home
3. Touch the Dynamic Island. It should tell you how much time you have left in
the timer.

If you cannot see it, call Apple accessibility. They may be able to screen
share and tell you how to use it.

I know that I can use quick nav when using my Bluetooth keyboard. This is done
with VO Q to toggle. Then H will be heading , T for table, and so on.

Hi Sieghard,

Well, I’m not sure I can give a lot of examples because I only use it to set it
to speak because the default is to play a sound which I have a hard time
telling if the tone means QuickNav is on or off. So having it speak tells me
exactly which state it is in.

This is both for when you toggle it manually or when it changes automatically
like when you enter an edit field.

I will assume that braille would show it on a braille display.

I also assume that Change Pitch would only apply if speak was on, but I don’t
bother since the speech option makes it quite clear, 

It can be set to the typical options like speak, play sound, change pitch,
braille or do nothing.

Dynamic Island works as expected on my IP 15P .. it also worked on previous

You wrote " Dynamic Island is something available for app developers to use for
certain functions" and this is true, but after the developer utilizes its
capabilities it is for everybody to get information about whatever might be
going on on your iPhone.
For example, you may have a timer going or you might be playing some music and
want to know what is playing. You can check in the dynamic island and it will
give you the timer's countdown or tell you what is playing.
I believe Uber may have already integrated it so if you had a car ordered, the
dynamic island would give you information about how far away it is etc.
I don't have an iPhone which has the dynamic island, but to my knowledge
whatever is shown in there is read by Voiceover and is accessible.

No, you are not doing anything wrong. I am not exactly sure what it will be
used for, but Dynamic Island is something available for app developers to use
for certain functions. It just hasn’t been taken advantage of yet.
So time will tell if will prove to be useful or a hindrance to us.

RE: Creating ringtones on iPhone with Ringtone Maker and Garage Band apps

2024-01-25 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Sorry, forgot to include the link for the app, here it is:

Ringtones Maker - the ring
app
The app is free to use, there is a “Remove Ads” button and for $2.99 US or
$3.99 Canadian you can support the developer and get rid of ads.

Subject: Creating ringtones on iPhone with Ringtone Maker and Garage Band apps

Hello,

I haven’t used iTunes for a long time and on my laptop I have been playing
around a little with the new Windows app which eventually will replace iTunes,
Apple Music, Apple TV and Apple Devices. Basically the functionality of iTunes
which allows you to manage and listen to the various media types as well as
provide a device section where you could update/restore your iPhone or add
ringtones to be synced to your connected iPhone is now divided up among these
apps similar to how it is on a Mac.
Unfortunately at this stage the Apple Devices app which is accessible for
things like updating/restoring your phone, making encrypted backups, turn
Voiceover on/off etc. does not include an option to sync ringtones to your
device. Maybe it does not yet include this feature as the app is still in Beta
testing phase, but either way since I did a complete reset of my iPhonelast
night I was looking for a way to at least get some of my favourite songs back
as ringtones.
After listening to a YouTube video, I downloaded the app the guy was using and
found that it is a pretty simple app and it is accessible. I am including a
link later. Basically when I opened the app I was able to import a song from my
computer into the app which is achieved by entering an IP address into a
browser, this takes you to a simple website where you can browse to your song
and import it. This worked well and the song was then in the app.
Here I was able to clip the song so it’s only 30 seconds long and setting start
time and end time as well as enabling a fade in and fade out effect was easy to
do. Then I tapped the “Make” button which created the ringtone with the correct
M4R extension.
After that I I found a “Share” option under “More” and I was able to select
Garage Band which I also installed on my iPhone before, for those who don’t
know it, this app is a free app from Apple which allows you to create and work
with all sorts of audio. After I shared it, I opened Garage Band, tapped on “My
songs” and my ringtone was there.
Flicking down on the song gave me a bunch of options and again one of them was
“Share”. After tapping it, I had several options including “Ringtone”.
When I tapped it I was told the length of the song had to be adjusted, It said
“Your ringtone needs to be 30 seconds or less and will be automatically
shortened to the appropriate length”.
I tapped continue and then had only two options, “Cancel” and “Export”. I
tapped on export and then when I went to Settings > Sounds and Haptics >
Ringtones it was right there and I was able to select it.

This method is not as easy and quick as copying a bunch of already existing
ringtones and simply pasting them into the appropriate section in iTunes, but
it is not very difficult and one can certainly make some ringtones based on
songs this way.
There is also an option where you can select a video from yoru photo library on
the iPhone if you have one which includes audio. The audio is then extracted
and you can make a ringtone from this.
Lastly, you do of course have options in Garage Band to create your own music
or record yourself if you are a musician, but that is one thing I am not.

I will once again leave feedback for Apple in the next little while asking them
to hopefully add the ability to sync ringtones via the Apple Devices app or
even better would be if they allows for some other way to simply import them
from a place like Dropbox or other cloud storage service. You can do just about
anything nowadays from the iPhone and I am sure iTunes will probably be a thing
of the past sooner rather than later and this is one area where Apple should
give customers an option to do this just using a phone.

RE: iOS 17.3, Anyone? - also my thought son completely resetting my iPhone 13 Pro

2024-01-25 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
