Those 2 examples are rather difficult, aren't they?

I'll have to forgive those...

Sharing Voice Dream Reader Pronunciation Dictionaries

2018-08-09 Thread Evan Gibson
I've been using Voice Dream Reader and trying to find a good place to talk
about it and this seems to be one of the few places it ever gets discussed.

I've found that there are huge problems with the default pronunciations
that apply to ALL voices used. I would've originally thought that there
would be voice based differences in pronunciation but there does not appear
to be. I even got some of the different voices _specifically_ to see if the
pronunciation was better.

I'm Australian and I hear the same problems in the Australian voices and
all the British and American ones.
Even though I'm Australian I'm used to hearing British and American TV all
the time and the program does not pronounce things even vaguely normally
for those countries either.

Given the severity of the problem I presumed there would be a website
somewhere where people were sharing their personal Pronunciation
Dictionaries to fix all these mistakes but apparently no-one even talks
about sharing them as far as I can see.
(I was looking for this prior to putting huge amounts of work into my own,
to save duplication!)

For examples (I'll try and dig up others later)

bringer is always pronounced to rhyme with fringer instead of ringer like
it should be.
black-eyed or black-eyes is always pronounced blackies (That one makes me
cringe)

I'd imagine someone out there has a personal dictionary that's a few pages
long and includes regexes and all kinds of things, and yet this topic seems
to go undiscussed?

Anyway, at the very least is someone starts searching for the same issue
hopefully they'll find this from now on!

Thanks,
Evan
