Re: AirPods Max first impressions

2021-03-06 Thread Yuma Decaux
Bluetooth will have some form of lag no matter what, as it’s not quantum
transmissions. And when you’re working on code for example, you don’t want any
lag between when you type the key and you hear it. using the lightning to Jack
connector gives you direct audio input instead of Bluetooth, where there is no
lag at all. I haven’t tried this on any Windows platform, I don’t use anything
Windows related.Or anything Microsoft related as a matter of fact.

Re: Astreos

2020-12-05 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi Everyone,

AstreOS is going through an overhaul, as we are adding some AI features and
sonification tools to analyse the objects in the skies.

the original project was simply to make things accessible in the augmented
reality sense, but between adding the entire universe, uni, a ted talk, the
Holman prize, covid and others, I don't have the deep pockets that some other
companies have, so I am working on the new features with another developer who
is supporting the code for the backend.

I will put the new version up tomorrow and link the public test flight through
this thread if anyone is interested.

Have a great sunday

Re: Petition · Apple: Apple, commit to never again willfully excluding disabled people from public betas · Change.org

2020-08-17 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi guys,

I find the argumentation that Apple does not include BVI in their public betas
seems a bit over the top, considering that Apple had warned that the current
beta will not be accessible. This can be due to many different variables,
including that Apple may be transferring their code base to a new framework
that is currently not 100% and requires some more refinements. If you agree to
download a beta, the agreement holds for all clauses given by Apple, including
warnings, and other bugs that may cause your device not to function until you
either a reset or downgrade the OS or a new build comes out. You specifically
agree to all these clauses, so complaining after that your device is not
working using a beta, I repeat beta installation is like agreeing to
participate in a medical trial for some kind of tablet, and you complain after
that your bowels are loose.

If Apple decided to omit BVI for one build out of many, and have clearly
mentioned this, I see no reason for myself to download that beta, since I
already have a fully functional device, and trying to go bleeding edge is
always an issue no matter what software product. Waiting for the next beta
build isn't the end of the world, and life has a lot of other activities to
partake in.

Isn't it simple just to wait, considering that Apple has given a tremendous
amount of time to make mac OS and all its other products accessible on the get
go, and that you are going bleeding edge at your own risk?

I am a developer myself, and will never install bleeding edge mac OS builds on
a critical device as I know I will run the risk of not being able to do certain
tasks, because some features are being refined and in that process, some
accessibility buttons or features may be temporarily broken.

Besides, Apple's commitment to accessibility is not a mystery, and the current
switch to a merger between mac OS IOS and others seems like a good direction,
that will make our devices clearly more integrated. Finally, if you had
purchased the beta and it bricked your device for good, then this might be some
justification to be angry, but none of this is the case.

Have a great rest of week y'all,

Yuma

2020-08-16 Thread Yuma Decaux
Just my 50 cents here, but I feel like Apple has been very consistent with
including disabled beta testers, in this particular case, the BVI community.

I have been beta testing apple software since 2011, and always been included in
the program, so I'm not sure where the intent of this petition stems from.

If anyone here feels omitted from the program, I'm sure someone in the beta
list can recommend you to the program so you can get an invite and start
testing.

Have a great week,

Safari web experience getting less and less satisfying

2019-04-27 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to do some simple things like shopping for a jacket, looking at
diffferent websites, and I've noticed that a lot of forms don't work or do what
they are expected to. Like simple popup buttons, search text fields or normal
text fields. It's getting pretty shoddy at this point, and putting me off from
doing anything on the web outside of reading.

Is anyone experiencing this?

have a great sunday

Re: Apple cancels AirPower wireless charging mat, citing quality issues

2019-03-30 Thread Yuma Decaux
I got the AirPods 2 a few days ago, and to be honest it doesn't affect me
negatively not to have the wireless charger. if anything, I move around a lot,
so both classic and wireless methods of charging require a cable of some sort.
having a cable that works also as my iphone charger makes it simpler, less
clutter etc.

The airpod2 are quite faster in connecting and the sound is much better both
volume and quality, so I'm quite happy with this purchase :)

Happy new year and reflections

2018-12-30 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi Everyone,

I'm about to close off for 2018, and wanted to wish all of you a happy new
year, the best opportunities knocking at your doors, and plenty of adventures
to come :)

I also wanted to share with you some reflections and an update on what's coming
up with Astreos.

Some of you may know, but the app has been featured across the world, in a
physics magazine in the UK, a Russian science magazine, Blind cool tech and
many others.

To keep pace with the feature requests, I have been working hard on a few
things, but thought it better to create a blog entry that you can read below:

https://www.oseyeris.com/post/a-look-back-and-the-expanse-of-astreos

Do keep up to date with what's happening as next year I'm adding a feature that
will blow away both astronomers and amateur users alike. In fact, this has
never been done in a space app, though quite a few features are already new and
unique.

I will be pushing some updates for those who are on the beta list as well, with
a new universal search feature as we have many mor objects available, now also
black holes. Imagine knowing where the center of our galaxy is, and seeing and
feeling the massive black hole that is residing right there, tearing stars
apart. I get a sense of the grandeur of the universe when I check it out.

In any case, logging off for this great year and wishing everyone the best for
the next :)

A++

Yuma

Re: iPhone XS Max Tear-Down and Parts Cost Estimate, Business Insider

2018-09-26 Thread Yuma Decaux
The point is, some dude who spends his time in an office chasing for news on
RSS feeds, bloomberg, AFP, and his email Vs. The engineer who spends time
solving problems, I take the latter for quality any day. one's in a dog pound,
the other clearing the field.

The first savours writing a piece for the sake of pushing his thoughts unto
others. The latter takes pleasure in unlocking one secret of the universe at a
time, through hands on experience, both good and bad.

The first reminds me of Euripides and the latter Aeschylus. one uses verbality
to sway among the crown halls, the other his arms and thinking process to get
out of doo doo, and conquer at the best of odds. Augustus's son, in the
gladiator told his dad:
"You wrote me a letter once, about the virtues you love in a son: wisdom,
fortitude and temperement. From what I can see, I have none of those. But I
have virtues too: ambition, passion, love.

Society needs both prototypes, but drawing a line between acctual useful
information and complete stuff fluffery keeps tinfoil conspiracies at bay.

have a great day

Re: iPhone XS Max Tear-Down and Parts Cost Estimate, Business Insider

2018-09-25 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi mark,

The article doesn't state the Bill of Material, but purely bases itself on
costs of components. it pretty much omits several phases in the logistics of
getting an iPhone out to the customer.

Being a hardware/software design house, and being part of the hardware tech
sector in Brisbane, we come across a lot of scenarios, and what is stated below
does not mean that Apple makes near 300% of margin. unless otherwise stated,
there is a balance sheet between overheads (salaries, facilities, R), then
packaging, shipping, and after care services, surplus units for retail store
exchanges, and the list goes on, vs the actual profits.

Apple being a vertical company, it makes a higher margin than say Amazon which
is more horizontal, made of collaborations with its army of retailers. Still,
to state that Apple simply makes that much margin is probably not correct, and
a great ink shedding tool for media as the tradition goes.

This does not change my opinion about the new iPhone though, which I have
touched at the local telecom store, it felt exactly like my iPhone 8+ and
nothing the sales person told me prompted me to upgrade at this date.

Have a great day

Big Astreos update

2018-09-25 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi everyone,

I hope y'all are having a good week.

Some of you may know this, but I've uploaded the latest Astreos version to test
flight, with quite a lot of new features. i did want to squeeze some more
features but this will happen in the next big one coming soon.

In the meantime, I wanted to share with you a little audio demo I recorded
while I was out at the local comic shop.

Below is the link:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/jvap6barzylhwzn/AllTogether2.mp3?dl=0

Hope you guys enjoy it, and if you haven't subscribed to the beta list, please
go below and leave me a message. I'm always very interested in hearing how you
would like to see/touch the stars and all the other objects and events
permeating our skies.

Re: Macaron wins the Australian Dyson award

2018-09-06 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi Mr. Ed,

Yes it talks. There's a bunch of synchronisations between device and app which
allows for choosing measurement modes, folders or taking template sequences for
measuring, sending to dropbox in various formats, firmware updates etc. You can
either record measurements when offline, which then synchs automatically when
the app opens, or do it with the app running, both active and in the background
(meaning you can take measurements while your phone's in a pocket and it will
confirm your measurements and recordings while the phone is closed). We have
also integrated a speaker on the device for standalone voice output, though at
this moment, I'm not satisfied with the TTS as I find it too low resolution to
fit the quality of the device. There are a few more sensors inside that figures
out whether you're right or left handed, then changes the push button functions
to adapt to your style of holding the Macaron.

We are looking at 99 USD for one unit for the base version, and slightly more
for the fancier one. The only difference is materials.

As you seem to have a fair amount of knowledge and usage time with tape
measures, I'd like to speak off list to ask you some use case scenarios. My
email is anto...@oseyeris.com <mailto:anto...@oseyeris.com>

2018-09-06 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi Sieghard,

Yes, I have been interacting with the local Vision Australia woodwork shop, and
the manager told me that sub millimeter or 1/32 inch accuracy was not
necesarrily required but appreciated. However your opinion does incentivise us
to actually go for the 1/32 holy grail, so I will push it into the dev pipeline.

For the ruggedness, we have been doing drop tests, and adapting the internals
to take shocks, like slapping the unit across a dining table to crash against a
wall or droping it from waist height directly onto it's LED face. We've had
some casualties at the beginning, but are having much better results. We also
have had several suggestions to add a lead to the unit so people can hang it
around their necks or clip it to their waist. the unit is very lightweight
because of its flexible ribbon, unlike the old types of tape measures. We did
some modifications on being able to clip in several important internal
components, so that we can fill spaces with various silicone and absorbing
materials, looked at the casing's internal structure so that we can machine
aluminum/metallic versions without it suffering dents and bumps, and have
looked at creating a resin bumper around for those who tend to manhandle their
devices.

Let's continue this conversation off list, as I would like to ask you a few
more woodwork related questions.

have a great day

2018-09-06 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi Sieghard,

Yes, it's the smart tape measure. We've so far increased the precision so worse
case offset is within 1 mm. We're currently looking for higher resolution
machines to CNC the internals, and adding some machine learning to fit
individual tolerances for each unit so that we can increase accuracy over time
to sub milllimeter precision. This will require sending data from the hardware
to the app to our server on specific states, such as when idle or putting the
app into background mode. The empirical to metric conversions are already there
to 1/16th of an inch. 1/32 is something we are setting as a goal for the sake
of being cool, but most of the initial testers have not expressed the necessity
to do so. Can you give me some scenarios where .78 mm is required?

Macaron wins the Australian Dyson award

2018-09-05 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi everyone,

Yuma from oseyeris here. Before I head off to see 5 astrophysics phds from my
uni to discuss everything about space, stars galaxies and of course, Astreos, I
wanted to give y'all a heads-up on something else.

As we are a hardware/software for (currently for mac/IOS) crew that tackles all
sorts of things that tends to complicate our lives as blind individuals who
either have active lifestyles, go to uni, want to create or do things sighted
people do, we have been awarded the prestigious Dyson award for the national
competition in Australia for our Macaron, the universal access smart tape
measure.

i wish I could send everyone a unit so you can feel it in your hands, play with
the magnets that attach things together and make the process of measuring an
amazing one, play with the app, etc. And I wish you could compare it with some
previous prototypes we worked on just to see how cool it is now, but for the
moment I invite you to have a read at the process and the journey in getting
there. link is below:

https://www.oseyeris.com/post/macaron-wins-australian-national-james-dyson-award-led-by-qut-and-uq-students

We're being featured everywhere here down South, here are some links:

And here's a radio appearance during rush hour from 4RBC:

Just wanted to share the excitement we have within our team for this, and I
would like to invite you to Like our Facebook page below to keep up with what
we have coming through, including an "efficiently accessible" Trello desktop
app, more 3D tutorial podcasts with a better format, a free music sampling and
mixing tool, and much more.

Keep your ears peeled for the next update of Astreos due within days.

Have a great day y'all

A little update on Astreos

2018-09-03 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi Everyone,

I wanted to give y'all a little update on what's happening with Astreos.

Thanks to the beta testers, we've identified a bunch of issues, mainly
pertaining to iphone 5s and 6 users, which we are addressing now and fixing, as
well as putting hundreds of megabytes of content about every object in the sky.
I have personally looked over assembling every satellite and mission launches
to date, which totals 8800, and made sure relevant information, outside of
location in the sky, is accessible.

I am seeing the Astrophysics faculty in a few days to discuss what a real
Astronomer would consider critical information, and useful tools for their
studies, to make sure we get the best experience for the app.

Considering that we also have a sighted beta tester base, we are changing some
controls to make the experience more of a sandbox universe one, where you can
zoom at intervals between all locations to adjust either sight or sound levels
when approaching objects in the skies.

There are a bunch of other things I am working on, but do expect an update
pretty soon, with all the info on objects available through VO.

Have a great day y'all

Hi Mitch,

It's still on beta so we go through test flight distributions to collect crash
logs and other runtime related processes, before uploading it to the appstore.

I've forwarded your email to our internal mail. you should receive an invite
soon.

Have a great day

Astreos: GMT location bug

2018-08-15 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to give a heads-up that we found a bug that jorients the objects
improperly when users are located in negative GMT time zones.

We're fixing this up, along with a few others which I will list here for now,
so that you can compare and know that we're working on them:
-Volume is not high enough on speakers. A gesture for volume up/down will be
added
-visually, on smaller phones, some information is cropped out
-Some prefer a single screen touch instead of pinch zooming. We agreed that a
double tap is better for zooming in, as some had to contort themselves in weird
positions when an object was straight up above. Hilarious and. funny yes, but
the goal of the app is to provide information quickly :)
-Some sounds disappear when zooming back from constellations

ALongside the above, we're going to expose all of the information which is
visually available using 3D audio for voice over.
-Many more features to come

have a great day y'all

Re: Introducing Astreos: universal access to the cosmos

2018-08-14 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi Again Donna,

We have tested the app at a school for visually impaired students here in
Brisbane, and the reactions were great, some hilarious and very cute. We will
be going around a few other schools and capture some videos of the reactions
too.

Hopefully, this app will help bring inclusion to the STEM subjects at schools
and educational facilities, as many of us do have an interest in the sciences,
the stars and physics, and can greatly benefit from it.

In any case, your email subscription has been received. You should get the
invite next morning Brisbane time.

have a great day

if you have any issues, please let me know. Just be aware that right now, the

working on devices down to 5s.

Re: Introducing Astreos: universal access to the cosmos

2018-08-14 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi harry,

Sorry for the experience you had when it first crashed. We are working now to
fix this ASAP.

Yes, you start by hearing one of NASA's launch sequences and you are in a
spaceship looking at the stars. I've had another comment about the volume not
being loud enough. It was so that you can experience the app on the headphones,
but speaker volume is not loud enough. This will be fixed within the next
coming days with a volume slider. For now though, if you put your headhones on,
you will hear everything clearly. Move the phone around and you will hear all
the constellations exactly where they are meant to be in the sky.

For the controls, they are actually mentioned in the test flight app along with
bug fixes and features, but I will list the controls here:

two finger swipe
Up for planets
left for manmade satellites
right for moons
down for constellations

When you selected an object, you will feel a tic from the phone. The faster the
tick, the closer you are from the object you are looking for, as you move and
orient the phone around in a spherical space.

Once you hear Leah anouncing the name of the object, do a pinch out gesture to
focus on the object.

Pinch in to zoom back out to the space ship.

If you have a bit of sight left, when zoomed in, you can orbit around the
object by dragging your finger around.

As I mentioned in the audio demo, We haven't exposed the information for all
the objects yet, as I am working on making the voice completely filtered with
echo and reverb.

Finally, another feature is using your voice. Double tap on the screen, and
Leah will say "yes", at which point you can say things like "where's Mars" or
"search for Neptune" etc.

Please let me know if you have issues and I'll get back to you ASAP.

Just wanted to make sure you got the invite? It seems so far with our tests,
the app has some issues with iphone 5s and 6 as the CPU architecture is older

I didn't see your email in the list on my backend. Were you able to send the

Also, just to check, what iphone version do you have?

Introducing Astreos: universal access to the cosmos

2018-08-12 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi Everyone,

A quick introduction of myself.

I am a blind software engineer, studying mahematics at UQ in Brisbane,
Australia.

I am also a passionate sci-fi, space, physics and astronomy fan. I am not
partially sighted, I am stone cold blind. But I wasn't always like that. I
still remember summer nights when the sky was clear enough to see the Milky
Way, the planets through the lens of a telescope, and the first images of
constellations with their beautiful nebulas came out.

So I decided to write an app that allows me, blind, to find the exact position
of all these objects in the sky using 2 sensory dimensions, with an attention
to those who are partially sighted too, wherever I am located on earth. if I
look for the sun, the phone will orient me to its exact location.

Astreos is the concatenation of Astrius, god of dusk, and Eos, goddess of dawn.

As the app is a complete 6 degree of freedom experience to find planets, moons,
manmade satellites and fragments, comets, asteroids, near earth objects,
constellations, major stars and find information about them all, I thought it
appropriate to put both gods of the sky in the same name.

This app uses connections to NASA's APIs, including the Horizons system which
follows in mission critical precision all objects within the confines of the
solar system, and updates itself automatically for the more than 118000 stars
which are visible to the naked eye, 22 other objects, including far away
galaxies, their names, categories, how they look, what chemical elements or
spectrum they have, super novas, and much more, through the largest
astronomical database, the Vizier catalogue.

The app is still in beta and I and my team are working hard to put more and
more content to the app, but more importantly, finding new ways to allow those
of us who are blind to access such information, and really have a sense of
where all of this is in the sky.

My personal experience for this has been to better understand where a lot of
stars remain almost static, how some constellations are named and why, when
they apear in the sky at what time, using my exact location. I spend a lot of
time reflecting on how to make this magic better using either visual, sound,
touch or voice.

You can listen to the frequencies coming out of every planet, and get a 3D
audio experience of major stars in the 89 constellations interpreted as chimes,
with higher pitches representing newborn stars, and clangy metallic chimes
those older stars which are cooling down. Novas are thunder rolls coursing
through the 3D space, and i am thinking of other ways to represent those stars
and their properties.

The official video will be coming out soon, but here's a quick demo audio of me
playing around with it:

2018-08-11 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi All,

Just to wrap this around in a positive note, please do remember my name as I
don't use this gmail account for any official marketing or other emails. I stay
quite informal about things when in macvisionaries or viphone, meaning that I
don't find it really necessarry to paste a full signature etc, but provide just
the essential.

I do agree that I could have added a few more paragraphs. Perhaps the engineer
in me just keeps it basic, and the enthusiast in me thinks everyone will get
the sincerity of my tone from the get go.

In any case, bygones are bygones and I'm happy to get the replies and the email
contacts to start distributing the beta for improving the experience.

I will write a second email in regards to the improvements and some background
on the app.

2018-08-11 Thread Yuma Decaux
Also sieghard,

If you don't have the intuition to click elsewhere from the contact form,
here's the website at the lab page:

https://www.oseyeris.com/the-lab

The lab page has a lot of info on how I went about working on the star gazing
app.

I'm just putting this in case people think I'm going to try and extort money
from them or whatever your assumptions are.

In this page will appear the blog and podcast on the star gazer, as a
discussion on how it can be made better, what features people would want
outside those I have thought out with my team, etc.

Cheers

Hi sieghard,

By definition a co founder is someone who founded a startup I'm the blind guy
in the duo, and I do all the different software architectures for the team. I
also do a podcast series on coding for 3D sound and audio using the swift
language and X-code. I'm based in Brisbane, and I think a few users on this

I have been a member of macvisionaries since 2010 and this list has greatly
helped, especially in terms of mac stuff.

If you don't want to click on the link, and first check out what I actually do,
including the research to make this app possible, it's your right, but I'll ask
you not to start treating or accusing me of some kind of scam or bad intention
from the get go, as this is purely an invitation to test out an app that allows
blind people like myself to enjoy the skies in a few different and thoughtful
ways.

If you're the new turf boss of this mailing list, good on you. I'm just a

Hi Everyone,

Firstly, is anyone interested in a podcast interview about how they see the
ssky as being, if they learn aspects of space, planets and other objects we
can't see as blind people in the sky. I have a podcast series that covers 3D
programming for audio, and related technologies.

I am co-founder of Oseyeris, and have been working on an app so I can
understand where the planets are, how they cycle around me in the real world,
as astronomy and physics are something I am passionate about.

Second, I would like to invite you to test a star gazing app for the blind.

Please follow this link, and put your name on the email list. if already

I am very interested in hearing your opinions about how stars should be
represented, though I have laid out the initial audio "feel" of space.

Invitation to closed testing round for accessible Trello mac app

2017-11-13 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi everyone,

As I am one of the directors of my startup, I am required to fulfill daily
organisational tasks, and have an overview of the entire processes our business
is going through. This includes a variety of sections such as hardware,
software, finances, coms, the list goes on. ALl this needs to be centrally
visible and manageable without going through undreds of text files or dropbox
folders.

I had looked for various efficient organisational apps such as Jira, Assana,
trello and MS project but none really have a smooth, fast way of doing things.
As they are heavily visual, it is hard to get a proper synthesis of what is
going on, who added what where and what to search for.

So I wrote a wrapper for Trello in swift, and now have a complete suite with an
interface, currently produced for the mac but that can easily be ported to IOS.

I would like to make a closed invitation for those of you who code in swift to
test the app, and it’s efficacy in your daily tasks.

So far, it has everything from boards, lists, cards, checklists, checkItems,
comments, attachments, labels, actions, and works nicely with webhooks through
apple’s remote push notification service. I’ve also written a backend PHP set
to manage individual users, tokens and push the right messages to the right
devices. There are stereo sound cues to alert the user of what is going on, as
well as new actions being performed by others.

I am currently trying to finish the initial OAuth process as well as getting a
proper calendar up with NSCollectionView for deadlines so that non coders can
use this for their everyday task management.

if you have an interest in getting more efficient with your daily organisation
and have registered a trello account, shoot me an email with your github
username and I will invite you to the private repo to see if it can be rendered
more efficient than it currently is.

So far I have a few friends, also blind who are using it, and they are really
liking the fast access to every object in your team and boards. one is using it
now for his accelerator program at uni, and the other is using it for his wly
those ork as a clinical psychologist. A few more blind professionals are also
using it in both accessibility and education.

I think that we as blind users should have the same level of access to every
service out there, especially to enhance our productivity. To do this, the
paradigm has to be seen from the perspective of a screen reader user. Not a
visual user, and this is why I wrote VITrello.

Have a great week y’all

Re: 3D audio experience podcast: The comedy show is now available

2017-09-01 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi Ronald,

Thanks for the suggestion. I am testing the app on another person’s computer to
make sure everything works fine as an archived bundle, and will release the
demo app. This greatly enhances the 3D audio experience as youtube flattens the
sound, and you can’t interact with a video. This will give a much deeper
experience.

Will keep you posted with the link and instructions as soon as my mate gets
back.

Cheers,

3D audio experience podcast: The comedy show is now available

2017-08-30 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi All,

Here’s I the coding functer again, with a new exciting podcast on making your
own 3D audio experience.

This one is simulating a blind comedy show and shows some more advanced
concepts on audio manipulation and states.

The article is below:

https://www.oseyeris.com/post/3d-game-podcast-6-blind-comedy-club

And here is the direct youtube link:

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLTWqp6-7XkjWGHnXb03gfylmPz7UPXYH4

Again, you can find the demo project in the blog link, and customise it to your
liking to better understand how it all works.

For those who have requested it, I’ve placed the demo sound at the beginning of
the podcast, so you can skip the tutorial part altogether and go straight for
the files.

Enjoy, and have a great week y’all

3D Audio experience podcast 5: mapping controls is available

2017-08-18 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi All,

After coming back from a Hackathon and having and HD failure and solving it,
here is podcast 5. It covers the keyboard command controls, in an eerie
alternate world where typewriters had screen readers attached to them.

https://www.oseyeris.com/post/3d-game-podcast-5-lets-take-a-trip-back-in-time

As usual, the example project is available in the link.

Have a great weekend,

positioning of those effects nodes. You probably never heard Alex talk like
this, but this is the whole point of the tutorial.

The link is available at:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a96w05bK-mM=1=PLTWqp6-7XkjUHXBShNQDuqGygHF5AA3kZ

As usual, the article contains the example project file which you can use at
your own leisure. it will be interesting to see what you guys come up with.

Enjoy :)

Re: New podcaast series on how to create a 3D game now available

2017-07-24 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi Ronald,

Not a problem. I think we should all be able to access various things taken for
granted which we don't really have access to, and make it easier to use for
everyone. That includes for education, entertainment as well as mobility.

You won't need too much technical knowhow if you base yourself on the example
files. let me know if you hit a hurdle.

3D audio podcast tutorial 3 now available

2017-07-23 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi All,

Pacing up with the tutorials, this time I am demonstrating how to make voice
over positional in 3D using SceneKit, along with some techniques and concepts
often used with the swift language.

The page is available in the following link.

https://www.oseyeris.com/post/3d-game-podcast-3-making-voice-over-3d-positional

I will be transcribing all the previous tutorials for those who wish to read
through rather than listen or use the example files.

Have a great rest of weekend :)

3D game podcast: tutorial 1 available

2017-07-16 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi All,

So I'm ramping up the pace a bit, as the intro video included no actual coding.

Here is tutorial 1: the basics on setting up your 3D scene for audio. The link
is below:

https://www.oseyeris.com/post/3d-game-podcast-1-your-first-game

The example file is in the linked text before the video. If you are a newbie, I
suggest you follow the video. But if you know code, then I invite you to
immediately download the example file and customise it.

Again, I really appreciate any recommendations, what you would like to find
out, or how to do certain things, so send me a shout on the site's contact page
or go to our FB page at:
https://www.facebook.com/OSeyeris-737015699780534/

The week has started guys, and there's a lot more content coming up :)

Hi Greg,

That one will come in a later podcast :) Not too far out though, but each of
these take time as I prepare each scene, the assets, the recording, chop them
up, upload the example files, etc. But we'll get there quite soon enough :)

Have a great day

Re: New podcaast series on how to create a 3D game now available

2017-07-16 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi,

The first intro is just a demo of what is being developed right now. We are
adding a tone generator that targets objects around you and gives you a cue on
orientation and distance of the object, alongside identifying the object and
voice over naming it as you rotate around the world.

The next podcasts are on the site at www.oseyeris.com
 on the lab page.

Like I mentioned it earlier, please do give us some comments so I can better
the experience of the podcast. If you preffer just playing with the provided
scenes I've created, just click on the link to the github repo and download the
scenes.

Enjoy :)

New podcaast series on how to create a 3D game now available

2017-07-16 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi Everyone,

I'm the software dev from OSeyeris, and I'm happy to present you a tutorial
series I have started that will help you create and code your own 3D binaural
experiences using swift, playground and Xcode.

I have tried to broaden the audience as much as possible, from those who wish
to understand code more to those who already have advanced knowledge.

Our podcast series are in youtube video format but the example code for each
tutorial is available on our website.

Here is the link to the intro video where I demonstrate a fully featured 3D
audio game we are working on and hoping to release soon as a set of
applications to play and start creating your own immersive world. We are also
currently beta testing thee engine with a local school for special needs and
the response has been overwhelmingly positive.

If you go through the lab page, this is where all the tutorials and their
associated files and youtube videos will reside.

I will be posting 18 videos in total, starting from the basics and ramping up
progressively to more interesting features such as A.I behavior, networking for
multiplay, audio engine filters and accoustics, direct recording and playback
as well as some SegueWay videos on some coding concepts to make your code and
3D application more efficient.

Finally, as I have started this series, the format might need some
improvements, so please don't hesitate to contact me and tell me your thoughts
or how you would like the tutorials to go forward.

Also, if you already have some swift knowledge, contact me and maybe we can
work together to complete the platform as it includes many many features, and
is not limited to playing games but has applications in education, audio
editing and virtual audio reality. It can be hosted on OSX, IOS, appleTV and
can also be controlled with a Leap motion infrared controller. I will release a
video very shortly with a demonstration of the Leap motion which can capture 3D
volumetric information of your hands.

Let's do this guys, and have a fantastic end of weekend :)

New measuring anything and navigation tool: The Macaron

2017-03-12 Thread Yuma Decaux
Hi Everyone,

I am a blind maths student at the university of Queensland and have been
working through the winter (summer down here in Australia) on a device we call
the macaron. The reason we call it so is because it looks like the French
pastry, the Macaroon.

It measures your environment using different methods and is connected to a
dedicated IOS app via bluetooth, and we are packing it with features and data
centric management of measurements and environmental awareness.

Here is a link to more information, as well as some audio introductions to the
features.

www.oseyeris.com

We are looking to work on a new set of features, both hardware and software for
our next iteration and hoping to bring out a complete solution by July. We have
been funded by our university's research and innovation department, and have a
growing list of beta testers using the Macaron in the Brisbane area. if you
also live around, please don't hesitate to fill out the form at the end of the
linked page.

have a great day everyone
