Re: How to prevent Face ID from misfiring?

2022-12-07 Thread Maria Heinrichs

I have an idea. So, if you get a wallet case it's not gonna do that
because the case is like a book 'cause you'd flip open the cover. Or, if
you didn't have a wallet case, if you just had an open case, meaning
it's just on the bottom but the screen is exposed, turn the iPhone face
down, then when it goes off and you walk by it, your face won't appear.
Hope this helps.

Hi Alan,

Thanks for that. I’m familiar with that setting. The thing is, it’s
not that I never want to use Face ID to unlock my phone. It’s that I
don’t always want my phone to unlock when I’m using it. If I can do a
thing without unlocking it, like read the weather warning I’m under
right now, then I see no reason to unlock it. Now, if turning off Face
ID is the only way to stop the iPhone from trying to unlock every time
I wake it, then I mean that’s what I’ll do. I’d just rather not have to.

Hi James,

You should go to Settings, Face ID and Passcode and become familiar
with the various settings found within that screen. At the top is a
heading Use Face ID for and the first item under it is Unlock iPhone.
You might try turning that off to see if you get the desired result.

Hey again, folks. Thanks for the help with my last Face ID
question. Mostly I think it’s just going to be getting used to it.
Speaking of that, I’m wondering if there’s a way I can prevent
Face ID from being the default – right now, the iPhone assumes I
want to unlock my phone when it wakes, which results in Face ID
trying to fire off. So for example, my phone will go off while I’m
busy doing something, so when I’m free I decide to check it out to
see what it said in case, you know, something at work is on fire
and I need to be not doing the thing I’m doing. So I pull up my
notifications, and Face ID fires off. But because I’m not
intending to unlock my phone but only check to see what I missed,
Face ID inevitably fails because I don’t have it in a good
position for it to succeed—why would I if I only want to check my
notifications? Besides waring earbuds or something, which makes no
sense if I’m the only one in the place and so my phone isn’t
disturbing anyone, is there a way I can set my phone to only try
to unlock it with my face when I tell it to? Otherwise, Face ID is
probably going to continue to misfire and end up disabling itself
after 5 failed attempts that I didn’t want to be attempts. Again,
if I’m missing something obvious feel free to whap me upside the
head with it. Thanks for the help!

Can someone please help me?

2022-10-01 Thread Maria Heinrichs
Okay I'm trying to turn my viPhone list e-mails from individual e-mails
to digest, or abridged, mode, as my e-mails can get cluttered if I'm
expecting e-mails from someone or I'm getting e-mail notifications from
another app. Mark told me to do it myself because he didn't want to go
into my e-mail account, but I don't know how because every time I go
into the viPhone website, something happens like my preferences change
even if I simply arrow around. Like one time, I went in there, all I did
was arrow around because I didn't know how to send an e-mail to you
guys, I didn't even press Enter on anything, and it unsubscribed me from
the mailing list like I basically kicked myself off the mailing list by
accident. So now I'm scared to go into the website because all I have to
do is arrow, and it does something I don't want. That's why I need help.
How do I change my preferences to digest, or, abridged, mode? Thanks.

Hey I hope this replies to Kevin and the entire list. I'm glad you

been a great day. I got my new iPhone 13 Pro Max up and running, and
there was minimal problems with it. The one thing that didn’t work as
advertised was to transfer everything from my old phone to the new
one. It should have worked without a hitch. All I had to do was enter
the code from my new phone onto the old one. Problem was there was no
keypad to do it, and my Bluetooth keyboard didn’t work to do it, so
that was out. Thankfully, the iCloud restore worked, so all’s good.
The only problem I’ve had with my new phone was it thought that
Bluetooth devices were paired, so no on screen keyboard. I got that
fixed by pairing my Bluetooth keyboard with it and turning it off.

There was one very pleasant surprise that happened, and that was
getting my Apple Watch working with the new phone. During the iCloud
restore, I was asked if I wanted my watch paired with my new phone. I
said I wanted it to happen, and it did. I didn’t have to pair the
watch, it just happened, and it works great.

Just sharing some good things that happened to me.

Have a blessed day and don’t work too hard.

Re: Optimize battery charging?

2021-10-14 Thread Maria Heinrichs
Okay, you go into Settings, Battery, then Battery health, find Optimized
Battery or something and turn that off if it's on. It's in Battery
Health in Settings. Hope that works.

Hi all,

Optimize battery charging is on on my iPhone.  Should it be? Every
once in a while, a message pops up saying that optimize battery
charging is on and the charge will finish at such and such a time.
Why is this and why should I leave this on?  Thanks much.

Regarding updating apps.

2021-09-28 Thread Maria Heinrichs
Hi. This is Maria. I hope this isn't off topic but since someone else
was talking about certain game apps I guess I can ask as well. So Dice
world hasn't been updated in about a year. I asked the developer in an
e-mail directly why there hasn't been an update and he hasn't gotten
back. One time I asked about Game world and he said Apple didn't give
them the resources to update. Do apps often not get updated because
Apple doesn't give the developers the resources, whatever the developer
means by resources? Thanks.

I pressed Control shift R, then it gave me a choice, to send it to
Richard, or to the V iPhone list.

Try it and see if that is true.

Maybe Windows Mail is very unique…

Here’s where I think the confusion is: With Windows mail, control + R
goes to the sender only, and control +shift plus R goes to all in the
group. BUT, when you send something to this list, control + r sends to
the group address that goes out to all. Does this make sense? But
don’t ask me for the tech explanation because I have no clue.

Control+R goes to the entire list.

Hi. This is Maria. I'm just wondering, first of all, did I memorize
the e-mail address for the V iPhone list correctly? Also, let's say
somebody like Karen e-mails the mailing list, and I reply to her. Does
my reply only go to Karen, or does everybody see my message? I mean,
if I press Control R to reply to her, does the reply only go to her,
or does it go to the entire mailing list? I'm just making sure it goes
to the entire list, or do I have to press reply all, not just reply?
Thanks.
