Re: Podcast audio editing apps?

GarageBand is a great choice. We use Audio Hijack and TeamTalk to record the
iACast and Audacity to do edits and post production work.

Re: AirPods Pro. Any pointers on removing the silicon insert to try a different size?

2019-11-09 Thread Michael Doise
Good afternoon,

I have had the AirPods Pro for aabout two weeks. You can remove the tips by
just pulling on the silicon ear inserts, or by finding the small depression in
the plastic near the ear tip and use your fingertip to remove the ear tip.

As for the case, The AirPods Pro have a new case design. Therefore, the Pros
will not fit in the AirPods 2 case.

I hope this helps, and have a great day.

RE: face id opinions wanted

2018-12-18 Thread Michael Doise
Good morning everyone, I felt that I need to put my two cent in on this topic.

I understand that Touch ID allows for ease of use of your iPhone, and we should
not have to feel that we are doing something wrong by using a phone in our
pockets, but lets look at it from the perspective of someone sighted. As a low
vision person, I would be very disturbed if I could see someone’s pocket
bulging and moving. That would be disturbing and I might not talk to that
person because I would not know what they were up to, so please consider this
when you say you do not want people to judge you for using your phone in your
pocket. I do think though that it would be cool if there was on screen
fingerprinting for users who would like to use a Braille display or some other
device, One workaround though is to use the Braille keyboard or a Bluetooth
keyboard to enter a passcode, so it is not to bad.

Also, as a low vision user, I have to use attention mode off on Face ID but
otherwise, I think it is very easy to use. I also think that Face ID is very
secure, and I would recommend that people use it over just a passcode or no
security at all.

I think that we will see new security technologies in the future, but until
then, I think we have a great solution for now.

Simon, you do knowhat the iPhone 8 has Touch Id? Nobody forced you to snap up
an iPhone X last year when Face Id was brand new and just as with first
generation Touch Id was probably not as reliable and good as second generation
Touch Id was or this year's Face Id.

who gives a toss about looks and all of this normality trash! I certainly
don't!
given the choice, I would much rather be able to use touch id whilst the
phone is in a bumbag whilst I am out riding, rather than having to take it
out for this stupid face id, and increase the risk of dropping it if the
horse spooks or something any day, and stuff how it looks.

Sorry to say this, but if you are using your phone inside a bag or pocket,
you look really strange to sighted people. It’s not normal. Also, FaceID is
much more secure than TouchID ever was.

RE: Shortcuts App Podcasts for Use In Other Apps

2018-11-10 Thread Michael Doise
I would also recommend that you check out the podcast from my company
iAccessibility on using Shortcuts. Head to

Unfortunately not all apps have shortcut ability. It is up to the app
developer to implement Siri shortcuts for their app.
I can not say whether your weather app has Siri shortcuts ability, but I can
say that the last time I checked, TuneIn did not. I have contacted the
developer of TuneIn and requested that Siri Shortcuts be implemented into their
app.

To see if an app has shortcut ability, you can start by looking in the
shortcuts app, or sometimes you can find it in the settings of the actual app.
You can download the shortcuts app from the app store.

As far as podcast, AppleVis did a 3 part series on shortcuts, and I would
highly recommend you listen to them.

Hope this has helped.

Hello:

I am looking for any podcast that might give me information on how to open
another app, then execute actions within that app. For example, I would like to
open TuneIn, then have it open the sports stream for my favorite team. Another
example might be to open my NOAA weather radio app, and start playing a
selected radio stream. Any direction would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Shortcuts App demonstration suggestions

2018-10-25 Thread Michael Doise
Hello,

You made a great choice to demo the shortcuts app. It is amazing, and there are
so many things you can do with it.

The company iAccessibility has a podcast called the iACast where we demo
different apps and technologies. We did a demo of the shortcuts app, which can
help you with your demo. Here is a link to the show.

https://iaccessibility.net/ia-democast-16-apple-shortcuts-for-ios/

Also, check out IAccessibility.net for shortcuts and RoutineHub.co for a huge
amount of shortcuts if the ones in the gallery do not work for what you are
trying to do.

Please let me know if this helps.

Re: Siri shortcuts not syncing over to my iPad mini two

Hi, I do not believe that Siri shortcuts sync through iCloud. At least
shortcuts in the Shortcuts app do not.
