RE: Is The Sirius XM App for iOS Voiceover Accessible?

2023-05-04 Thread kevinwassmer
I have the app. It is accessible. However, I will say that there does not
appear to be a good search feature on the app. For example, I can not type in a
channel in an edit field. Maybe it does exist. But if that feature does exist.
Voice-o er does not read it. However, the app is pretty accessible.

RE: Telegram Messaging App

It’s been a while sense I have used Telegram. However, the last time I used
Telegram, I couldn’t access channels or groups. I could message people. But

Good morning everyone,

Recently, someone mentioned something to me called Telegram. From what I’ve
read, it is some sort of Messaging service. Has anyone used it, or could anyone
give me more information about it?

I’m a bit concerned about its accessibility with VoiceOver. I tried going into
it and creating what I thought might be an account, and it really didn’t read
things very well. At one point, I figured that there was a box where one
entered a phone number. It was a bit clumsy after that, but I think I created
an account or whatever it’s called.

Now, I need to know how and why to use it. 

Thanks much.

RE: kindle

I have had issues with the Kindle with Voice-over. If I get Voice-over to read
a Kindle to read a book. I can not stop it and swipe to the left or right to
read the next or previous line. Therefor, I like to have my Braille Display
connected to my iPhone to read books on the Kindle app.

A three finger swipe to the left will go to the next page, and a three finger
swipe to the right will go to the previous page. A two finger swipe down will
read continuously from that page to the end of the book. You can just touch the
screen with two fingers and that will pause the speech

Very accessible. The software for the computer, the iPhone and the
Kindle tablets are very user friendly. If you buy a tablet, you
will need help turning on the Voiceview feature, which is like
Voice Over at first, but after that, it stays on.
I also recommend using a wireless keyboard with it.

Net News Wire; it’s free, and very accessible. I used Lire for a time, but it
downloads every single article, whereas with Net News Wire, it’s all done
directly online. It even has several widgets. Also in its Context menu
(double-tap and hold on the app’s icon before opening it), you have an item
which takes to directly to the first Unread post. Hope this helps some.

RE: Aira and Be my eyes

2022-05-10 Thread kevinwassmer
Believe it or not, I have used both AIRA and By my Eyes to assist me in find
locations. For example, I have a new job coming up on Friday. I have used Be my
Eyes to help me find the location of my job. I told the volunteer the address I
was looking for and the street corner I was at. She looked through my camera
and used Google maps to find out where I was trying to get to. If the volunteer
is really good at navigation, By my Eyes can work great for orientation. But
with AIRA, you are guaranteed to have someone with a dash board and more
sophisticated navigation software to help a person get around. But both AIRA
and By my Eyes can work good for orientation and navigation.

The point is that I get a better connection with BE MY EYES and I am sharing
minutes with someone for Aira. The fact that I get a clear call now and again
when using Aira seems to suggest the problem is at Aira's end. I need to call
their technical support to see what they can figure out about that. In years
past I didn't have that trouble. I ordered my SE second generation with someone
in Mexico through Aira and thatwasover 2 years ago.Nothng has changed with my
internet set up since that time.
I also thoroughly enjoy the kind of person who volunteers for BME. They are
always personable, and you can feel the world that surrounds them - you might
hear a child in the background, find out someone is in the service and
stationed overseas, or picking up in the UK or other parts of the world. I love
it.

Amazon Kindle App on the iPhone and Voice-over

2022-04-23 Thread kevinwassmer
Hello folks. I have the Amazon Kindle app on my iPhone and I am also using
Voice-ore. I am currently reading a book pared with my Braille Note on the
Amazon Kindle app. The person who wrote the book said there was a way to
turn the speech on. However, I can not get the Kindle to work with
Voice-over. This is why I am reading the book pared with my Braille display.
I am currently using the BrailleNote to pare my iPhone up with. First of
all. I want to know why isn't the kindle not working with Voice-over.
Second, if this book does have a speech setting on the Kindle app. How do I
turn that on. I had a sited person try to find that option and it didn't
work for her. I am also having an issue where I am reading the book on my
Braille display pared to my iPhone and it only goes so far in the book
before It starts a particular section over again. Is this normal? Thanks for
your help in advance.

questions about the iPhone the Braille display, and how this all interacts with the iPhone.

2022-03-11 Thread kevinwassmer
Hello folks. I know I haven't posted on here for a long time. I have some
questions about the iPhone and how it interacts with the Braille Display.
First, I have been reading a book on iBooks. I found the Braille display
works better with the iBook then Voice-over does. Here is a question I have
though. Why is it that when I exit iBooks and come back in iBooks let's say
about an hour or so. The Braille display will have the last few lines of
what I have read but then it will go to the first part of the current
chapter I am in. This is especially annoying when I am almost done with a
chapter and I have to exit iBooks and come back later. Also, how do I use
the find command when having my iPhone connected to the Braille display?
Cord F doesn't work very well. Also, can you use curser routing keys when
reading a book in iBooks. I haven't been able to do that. Thanks very much
for your help.

If there is an allow button, Voice-Over isn't reading it.

Kevin, it should automatically let you sign in once you've given an access to
the browser. You shouldn't have to worry about allowing cookies and if it ask
you about allowing cookies, you should have an allowed button.

Yahoo Mail

2021-08-17 Thread kevinwassmer
I have a Yahoo Mail account. I downloaded the application. However, the
Yahoo Mail application wants me to use the web browser on my iPhone. When I
open the app it asks for my email and password. Then it wants to use the
browser. I allow the Yahoo Mail application to use the browser. But I can't
go any further unless I enable safari to use Cookies. I don't know how to
have Safari to use cookies. Is there another app I can use such as the
default email app on my phone so don't have to use cookies with Safari?

RE: How does your Voiceover pronounce yesterday after the iOS 13.4 upgrade?

2020-03-28 Thread kevinwassmer
I don’t know why Voice-over pronounces Yesterday. How do you fix it. Surly,
Apple must be awar of this and will fix it.

I noticed it with the default Samantha bvoice also. I changed the spelling in
pronounciation and it solved the problem.

Hi List,

I know pronunciation issues are miniscule with everything going on now but I'm
curious why Voiceover seems to have problems with the pronunciation of certain
words after iOS upgrades. I upgraded to iOS 13.4 yesterday on my iPhone 8 and I
notice that the last syllable of the word yesterday is now pronounced as if it
begins with the letter t instead of with the letter d. I'm getting this same
mispronunciation with both Samantha enhanced and Tom enhanced and am curious if
others are also experiencing it. I was reviewing a list of recent app upgrades
in the App Store and they are tagged with the upgrade day and I got tired of
hearing yesterday pronounced as yesterTay.

Thanks for any confirmation of this mispronunciation issue.

RE: Uber Eats

Igave up using Uber Eats because of this. I could place an order. But I haven’t
been able to check out in a long time using Voice-over. I like either Byt Squad

Hi,

Has anyone ever used the Uber Eats app for ordering food? I downloaded the app
yesterday and when browsing the menu of my chosen restaurant, I am unable to
work out how to add my chosen dishes to my cart and then place my order. Can
anyone help me please?

Many thanks,
