Hello,
I am looking for an app to be able to record/pause and perform quick edits or
replace parts of recording on the iPhone with VoiceOver.
Does anyone have a recommendation?
I already tried using the VoiceMemos app on the phone and although I can record
and make replacement to parts of recording, I can't seem to locate a means of
trimming parts of recordings accessibly. When I place the wave form in what I
feel is the correct place and double tap on trim, the part still seems to play.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

RE: Blind Tech Guys Invites You To Be A Part Of The BTG ClubHouse Community

2021-06-02 Thread marco.curr
Hello everyone,

Blind Tech Guys now has a club on ClubHouse and we invite you all to join our
ever-growing community.

You will find the podcast here, where we discuss Android, iOS, and any other
technology product or service from a blindness perspective.

The Blind Tech Guys are two blind podcasters who make it their mission to bring
you this content. Blind Tech Guys is published weekly, with occasional bonus
midweek episodes.

We are aware that it can be difficult to find technology resources from a
blindness perspective. While there are other podcasts out there, we believe
that the landscape is fragmented, and our strengths lie in providing you with
tech content and commentary that is useful and easy to understand. We know you
can go elsewhere for your content consumption, but we are positive that you
will find what you are looking for by being a part of our community.

I hope to see you all around on the ClubHouse streets!

Yeah but then another blind person will probably come and walk over it which is
disgusting!!! In my area there’s lots of dog poo around on the street and you
always feel extra apprehensive in case you step in it. Other people just go
around or over it but of course blind people have no choice but to go through
it if they are walking alone.

exactly, yet another point in the robot's favour. although here in the UK, I
believe guide dog users are exempt from having to clear it up. I know they
used to be anyway, but not sure if that is still the case now.

and yet another point, is that the robot one should take you to exactly where
you want to go, even if you have no idea of how to get there, and no sense of
direction, where as that would probably be a heck of a lot to ask from the
standard guide dog.

possibly, but unlike the real dog, one won't have to be so concerned about it
getting too distracted by such attention, and the robot one could very easily
even be programmed to say something along the lines of, "buzz off, I'm trying

RE: Could a smart backpack replace guide dogs? Researchers think so. - The Washington Post

2021-05-24 Thread marco.curr
Completely agree. To many people in this world seem to have their canes
attached to their personalities. A cane to me is like having to carry around
some surgical implement. The quicker we can replace it, the better I say.

why is it ridiculous? sighted people get directions on their phone, and are
told what to do at every turn. I personally was always embarrassed by a cane,
and allergic to dogs. if tech can help us out why not? I for one hated my cane,
loathed it because it made me feel different than my sighted friends at school.
I live in a rural area, like to walk close arm in arm with my husband, and my
cane is in a closet, and has been for years. If I could use something techy I
would be far more excited about travelling alone.

that's all well and good, but if like myself for example, you have no sense of
direction, and need something that is going to be able to work out a rout for
you, find places for you such as the right shop, pub, restaurant etc. and do it
all with pin point accuracy, the cane is next to useless!

so for someone like myself, the robot guide dog, if fitted with the right tech,
is a super fantastic idea.

RE: Blind Tech Guys Strap Discount

2021-05-06 Thread marco.curr
Hello everyone,

Three years in the making, STRAP is an innovative, wearable device that fits
over the chest and is designed to detect any type of obstacle. STRAP’s vast
array of sensors work by sending real-time information that detects obstacles
at your head, chest, and below your waist - including bumps, holes, and steps,
then notifying you with haptic language vibrations. Designed for all ages and
shipped globally later this year.

At STRAP Technologies we believe autonomy and independence are human rights;
not luxuries. Our goal is to be the first replacement of the white cane, giving
the visually impaired a long overdue hands free experience.

Use code BlindTech strap.tech, for 50% off the current total price of a STRAP
device. Preorder today at this discounted price of $250 and pay only $50 at
this time to reserve your STRAP. Once STRAP is shipped to you, you will be
billed the remaining $200. This offer is just available with this Blind Tech
Guys Code.

The Blind Tech Guys are pleased to offer
you the above exclusive code and we are delighted to share this with our
ever-growing community, so if you are keen to try this product, we encourage
you to pre-order it and keep an eye out for a demo of the product to hit your
ears sometime soon.

Overpriced and buggy, sums it up pretty well in my opinion.

Hi Simran,

Since this is a list discussing devices and apps running under iOS, I don't
expect you'll find much comment on the Louis Voice Control app which is only
available for Android devices.

Subject: Louie Voice Control-A New App to Voice Control Various Phone Apps

Hi Friends

Some time back, I came across a very interesting app on Google Play Store by
the name of "Louie Voice Control” and I've been using it consistently since
then. Are there any other users of it in this Group? If yes, please inform. I
would like to understand what all features you have already tried out as I'm
still new with this App and learning about more & more helpful features on a
daily basis.

So Louie is all about controlling popular Apps & phone functionality with just
voice commands. The best part is that its designed keeping special needs of for
visually impaired like us in mind. I heard the Founder of Louie saying in his
video that he is visually impaired himself and has built this app to solve his
own visual impairment problems. I loved watching his video as it gave a very
simple demonstration of the App & also suggested how it's different from Alexa,
Siri & Google Assistant. And I truly agree with what all he said as there's no
comparison. Louie is much more customized for VI users & not generic like other
voice assistants.

Louie supports Uber, YouTube, WhatsApp, Contacts & Phone Calling as of now with
many more phone functionalities. And many more apps are on the way as informed
in the Founder's video.

I'm personally using Louie for many things which earlier were really difficult
for me to manage on my own like sharing my live location on WhatsApp, reading
and describing images received, skipping YouTube ads, saving and editing my
contacts, checking my exact location, booking uber without any hassle & calling
the driver to confirm my location etc.

You can see Louie in action here, I copied this link from their YouTuve Channel:
https://youtu.be/F0-y7087Kzg

On top of it all, its available on Google Play Store for a free download:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.visioapps.louie

Thanks and Regards
