RE: Need Accessible App for Apartment Intercom System

2023-08-23 Thread mickey.quenzer
Hello Sherry:

iOS 14 was when screen recognition was added.

I think that was after the iPhone 8 was introduced.

Good luck with your search.

I am definitely talking to my apartment management & their IT person.

Meanwhile, I do not have screen recognition turned on. I’m not sure it will
help as it seems I have to have voice over off before the intercom app will
open once I’ve answered the phone. I’d like to try it though. Where can I
find it to turn it on? I looked through accessibility & didn’t find it. I did
a search for screen recognition under settings & it sent me to quick settings
voice over. I didn’t find it there either. I am using an IPhone 8 with
current IOS, 16.6.

Thanks,

Sherry Wells

Have you tried to turn on screen recognition to see if that helps with the app?

You should also tell your apartment management they should put pressure on the
developer to make the app more accessible, you can also contact them yourself,
but it wouldn't hurt if they did as well. Hopefully the developer is receptive
and willing to do this.

As for suggesting another app that really is not possible if you don't know the
system and what works with it. I would request a meeting with whoever is in
charge of this type of stuff from your management company to discuss and
explore options.

Subject: Need Accessible App for Apartment Intercom System

Hello,

My apartment management recently switched to a new app for use with our
intercom system. With the old app, a person would punch in your apartment
number, your phone would ring, you would answer & see who it was then press 9
to trigger the door to unlock. Apparently this system was quite old & I am
told they could not enter any new numbers into the system. The new app, called
AIPHONE IXG, is not accessible. It only gets a 2 star rating so am not sure
why they chose it. In order to use it, I have to turn voice over off. Luckily
I can see enough to hit the answer phone button. Then I have to tap on 2 more
things then slide a door icon over to trigger the door to unlock. I cannot see
well enough to tap on the 2 places needed to get to the door icon. Does anyone
know of an accessible intercom app I can suggest to management?

Thanks,

Sherry Wells

RE: Question about sound used to identify the Home screen, Control center and App switcher

2021-05-26 Thread mickey.quenzer
Hi:

The problem is not that the side switch is on mute.

The problem is that when she touches the bottom of the screen to get to the
home screen, she doesn’t here any sound to let her know that she can slide up
to the home or app switcher. She turned that off because she had an iPhone 8
which had a home button. When she restored from a backup when they set up her
iPhone 12 Pro max, that option is still turned off.

I can not remember the name of that sound and can not turn it back on for her.

We’ve looked in accessibility, VoiceOver, where there is a “more” button which
describes the gestures, but it doesn’t mention the sounds.

Have you / they checked the mute toggle on the side of the phone,

Left side above the volume buttns?

Ensure it is flicked towards the face of the phone

To unmute if that is what the issue is.

Hello:

I have a perplexing problem.

I am working with a client who has turned off the sound that your iPhone makes
when you slide up from the bottom or down from the top of the screen. Does
anybody know what that sound is called and how do you turn it back on?

I’ve never had this problem before. Mine has always worked and I never wanted
to turn it off!

Re: Voiceover problem while using Bluetooth speakers

2021-05-26 Thread mickey.quenzer
Hi Richard:

yeah I did report it via the feedback form.

I am working withapple accessibility the tech support person is Brad.

but I didn’t see a case number created or anything like that so maybe you can
maybe we should have a discussion we know if I can call you or you can call me
but I am I do need to get smarter about reporting things because I seem to find
them so thanks for all your help.

I hope I can mail this one down, because it’s still in Beta 7.

You should report it through the beta feedback form as well if you haven't.

I'll report it if you share the case number so the reports will all show up
under the same issue.

Sieghard, I thought this problem existed earlier than that but yes I am on the
latest update of iOS and I also can create the problem with the beta software
for iOS. I have reported it to Apple Accessibility for the current Version
14.5 iOS as they don’t track the beta software issues.

Have you updated to 14.5? This was not an issue prior to that update.

I use bluetooth speakers and headphones with bard and voice over all the time.
I've never had a problem where voice over is louder then my bard book. I also
have change with buttons off when it comes to volume.
