Re: Can anyone remind me/send me step-by-step instructions on how to update my IPhone/IPad through my Mac as opposed to over-the-air??

2015-12-09 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Hi Eleanor,

Connect your ipad/iphone to your mac with the relevant cable. If itunes
doesn't open automatically, open itunes manually. In the main window look forr
a popup button that says iphone or ipad and vo+spacebar on it. This should
select your device. To the right of the button, you will come across "iphone
summary area". Interact with it. There you will find all sort of info about
your device but crucially a backup button to backup your device. Do it before
you update. In the same summary area you will have a "check for update"
button. Activate it and you will be guided through the update process. You
may have to enter your unlock key on your iphone during the process as well but
voiceover will tell you to do so. Before you update, some list members have
recommended that you close all your apps on your iphone first and reboot it.

Good luck

Andrew

Can anyone remind me/send me step-by-step instructions on how to update my IPhone/IPad through my Mac as opposed to over-the-air??

2015-12-08 Thread 'Eleanor Roberts' via VIPhone
Hi all

Sorry to be a pain, as I know this has been discussed many times on list, but
I've lost the e-mails. Could anyone send me step-by-step/idiot-proof
instructions on how I can update my IPhone and IPad using my Mac as opposed to
trying an over-the-air update?? People say it's safer doing it this way, but
I've had a total blank.

Many thanks for any help.
