RE: Deleting Custom Ring Tone

2015-11-08 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
She probably has to connect her phone, go to the device section, go to Tones in
the treeview and then tab until she gets to her list of ringtones, uncheck the
one she doesn't want any more and sync her phone.
I have never tried to get rid of anything of my phone by deleting it from the
iTunes Media subfolder where it is saved, but it would seem that deleting the
item does not do the trick. The normal way is to uncheck what you don't want,
then sync which will remove it from the phone, then if you are sure you never
want to use this particular tone again, you could of course go ahead and delete
it from iTunes. Note that deleting the actual file from the folder will also
not delete it from the iTunes Library, it will simply result in a broken link
since everything in your library basically is nothing but a link to the
locations where the item is stored. If after you delete a song or tone from the
folder where it is saved you try to play it in iTunes, it will flag it with
"Invald location" or "Invalid Path", not sure exactly what it says, but it is
something like that.
The best way to get rid of something permanently is to first unsync it from
your device, then delete it from within iTunes and when it asks if you want to
permanently delete it and send it to the recycle bin then say Yes to that and
iTunes will remove the item from the library and delete the actual physical
file.

Sieghard

Subject: Deleting Custom Ring Tone

A friend asked me to figure out to remove a custom ring tone she had created
and installed. Seems that even though she removed the ring tone from the
"Tones" folder under iTunes, when she sync'ed the iPhone that particular ring
tone was still on her iPhone 6.

Does anybody have any idea what can be done to get rid of this unwanted ring
tone -- remember it has been deleted from the "Tones" folder on her Mac but
seems to linger on her iPhone.

Re: Deleting Custom Ring Tone

2015-11-08 Thread Rob

Hi,
I have a simular problem,
I created a ring tone about a year ago using Garage Band.
it was my first time using that app. the tone is not good. So I want to
delete it. The problem is I know longer have the app installed. the tone
does not show in iTunes, but is in the ring tone section of my phone.

Since it does not show in iTunes, I cant figure out how to delete it.
