Reverting to Prior iOS Version was RE: Question which I already made probably know the answer to, regarding reverting back iOS.

2013-09-21 Thread Alan Lemly
Jennifer, I've never rolled back an iOS version but someone posted a link to
this list I believe in the past day or so where you could download the last
iOS version before 7 was released. I assume it still works since the site
still loads and here's the link:

http://ipswdownloader.com/

The top of the page has the heading Download Firmware (IPSW) Files for iOS
Devices. Just below this heading are three drop-down boxes where you select
your Device, its Model, and its most recent firmware before iOS 7. I think
the available choices in each box will vary based on the previous box
selections. After making your selections in each of the three boxes, there
is a download link just below the boxes where you can save the last iOS
version file to your computer's hard disk. There is some further description
below this link which discusses that your device will be reset to factory
defaults and will lose all data and content upon doing a restore to a prior
version. When one upgrades to a newer version, you don't lose anything if
all goes to plan. You should therefore make a backup in iTunes to either
your computer or iCloud or both before doing a restore. The restore is done
from within iTunes but this is also described on the page at the above link.

As I said, I have never done one of these but if you want to roll back from
iOS 7, this appears to be the way to go. Maybe others who have actually done
this in the past can comment further.

Good luck.

Hi oh.
I think I may already know the answer to this question, but just thought I'd
check. There is not a way to switch from iOS 7 back to iOS 6, is there?
There are just too many things that I do not like about iOS 7. I appreciate
your response.

Hi Jenifer;

Stick with what you have.

You'll be better off in the long run, believe me!
