OK, You live and you learn.
So, a person at Apple said that I should simply copy my iTunes folder from
my old computer to an external drive. I should then go to my new computer
and use the file menu option to add a folder to my library and in this way,
add the folder from my external drive to iTunes on my new computer.

Well, I did that, and all looked well. All my apps showed up on my computer.
As I said in the past, I don't have a lot of music and I was not worried
about that. However, this mporning, just for the heck of it, I looked at the
file size of my new iTunes library and discovered that it was nowhere near
as large as my library on my external drive. That made me wonder about
something. So, I called Apple again and he basically said what I had figured
out by that point. The Apps were there in name only, but only as pointers.
It did not actually copy the apps themselves. I think someone on this list
had a question about this. It appears you were right.

So, what I have now done, and what was suggested by this Apple technician,
was to close iTunes. Then move my iTunes folder on my Windows 10 computer
someplace else in case I needed it, and then Copy the iTunes folder from my
external drive to the right folder on my Windows 10 computer.

It worked. I also feel much more confident that the apps are actually there
and not just pointers.

So, if this helps someone, I will be glad. I am guessing music may be a
different story if it is stored in places on your computer other than where
iTunes would put it, but I will let smarter minds than mine worry about
that.
