I just set up a new gmail account today, setting it up as imap. I added it to Microsoft Outlook on my Windows PC and moved some messages into the inbox from another account. All went well.
However, after adding it to my mail accounts on my iPhone, the inbox is missing lots of messages which are showing up on my computer, and there's no rhyme or reason I can figure out for why certain messages are showing up and others aren't.
