Moderator warning about letting emotions run away from you
Hello all. Let's remember that being passionate about how we feel VS being rude are totally different things. The latest discussions regarding the Seeing Eye app seem to have drawn out the monsters in a few people. Funny thing, the Seeing App discussion several months ago, when it was discussed about the upcoming app did the same thing. Then a couple of years back, the Sendero Lookaround app did the same thing. I'm not a Sendero Fanboy, but it certainly seems like there are some people who just have it out for Sendero. Or, maybe they just have it out for paying for things. I don't know. I don't really care what the reasons are. All I'm writing about here is to warn you all that if anyone has written or is about to write rude and inflammatory comments attacking a person, they will immediately be put on moderation. If you have already written such emails by the time you read this, too bad. You will be hearing from me as well. We are adults and we should all know better. My apologies for saying this to most of the list members for whom this message doesn't apply to. Cheers.-- -- Raul A. Re: Moderator warning about letting emotions run away from you
I wonder why someone from Sandero hasn't monitored this list and given some information, especially about the possible server outage yesterday. It sure would clear up a lot of issues and do them some good public service. They must know that this is a huge list and reaches many many potential customers. But that seems to be the way of American business these days. Ignore your customers and complain that it is impossible to attract customers. I don't have any desire to get something for nothing. I have worked since I was a teenager and know very well that you get what you pay for. I own my own business and completely understand that you need to make money. We all do. I never asked for a free product. All I want is a reasonable price. It's not emotions, it's my opinion that the price is excessive. I know about in app purchases, but seeing a registration screen that wants you to pay so much right away with out even a trial leaves a bad taste in my mouth. As for writing a review before purchasing, if the price drives one away from purchasing, I think I have a right to let the developers know of this so that may be they will think of a more suitable plan. I have expressed my views on this and this is the last I will write concerning the subject. I thank the list mods for allowing me to speak my piece, which is financially motivated, not emotionally driven. If I am considered a monster for expressing my opinion, so be it. Remember, the 4th of July is coming up, and I am an American who is entitled to voice an opinion. Sorry if I am not speaking in a politically correct manner, but that's how it is. Sometimes the silent majority needs somebody with the guts to speak up and protest. Happy 4th of July to all! Re: Moderator warning about letting emotions run away from you
Thinking that an app is too expensive is one thing but calling a company greedy and accusing them of taking advantage of the blind and stealing from them is another thing altogether. It's hard to think this isn't emotional when you start tossing around terms like greed, taking advantage of and stealing. If your original post was more like the post below, I doubt this thread would have been as long as it's been. I'm curious what you think is a reasonable price. I'm also curious how much you would pay for such an app and how much it would have to cost for you to think it's too expensive for yourself but still wouldn't call the company out for stealing and being greedy. Re: Moderator warning about letting emotions run away from you
I don't see any behavior in this thread that's unique to blind people. I'm on plenty of non-blindness related lists where discussions go on long past the point where certain people would wish they would end. I'm also not sure why people start clambering for a thread to end. These requests don't usually pop up until a thread is about to end anyway, so they just add unnecessary traffic. They also go mostly ignored, unless of course they come from a moderator. After all, why is one persons opinion on whether a thread has gone on too long any more valid than another list members opinion. Don't ever be afraid to speak your mind on issues whether others like what you say or not! Mary Anne Lynskey On 7/3/2013 10:08 AM, Raul A. Gallegos wrote: Hello all. RE: Moderator warning about letting emotions run away from you
Raul, I am a moderator of a different list experiencing similar rudeness. May I use some of your language?
