Re: Question About iPhone Backups and Losing Data
Congratulations Steve on your upgrade to a 12. I am looking forward to replacing my 7 with a 2021 iPhone Mini when they come out. When you switched phones in the past, did you do a phone to phone transfer or a transfer with iCloud or a computer backup. A few years ago, Apple introduced the means to transfer data with a new phone just by putting it next to the old phone. Both phones need to be on Wi-Fi and running the same major version of iOS, such as iOS 14. A friend of mine did this and he was able to essentially clone his phone and transfer all music, videos and photos. Re: Question About iPhone Backups and Losing Data
Joshua, I believe that allowing the syncing of BARD books from the cloud is on the roadmap from NLS. I'm not sure when this is supposed to happen. I could speculate and say within the next couple of years. You aren't the only one in this position, of wanting your books to sync across devices like they do in Audible. Regarding Voice Dream Reader, I know that you can enable the syncing of books from the cloud. I'm not sure where this is located, likely in Settings, so I'll let someone else address that. When I get a new device and VDR is fully downloaded on my new phone, if I open the app I see messages that my books and material are downloading or updating. I've got some BookShare titles, and I didn't lose them when I went from the 10R to the 11 last year. Hth, Wayne Merritt On 5/21/21, Joshua Hendrickson wrote: > Larry. No one seems to get this point. Re: Question About iPhone Backups and Losing Data
Steve, Unfortunately, whenever you change to a new iDevice, you lose all the content in BARD Mobile that was on the old device regardless of that device's backup status. NLS is aware of this issue and is working toward a conversion to the cloud which will address it along with making other features also available. However, this process is going to take quite a while to complete. I've never lost content in Voice Dream Reader when I've upgraded to a new device but I've always had both an iCloud wifi backup as well as an encrypted iTunes backup on my local computer. Larry. No one seems to get this point. Of course I know my books would still have been on bard. However, why should I have to redownload all those books again. I really hope in the future the folks at NLS can find a solution to this problem. I mean, its not like at audible where you have your audible library and you can either stream or download your books. I don't know about voice dream reader, but I know with bard mobile at this time, there isn't a thing you can do about it. I've got over 1400 bard books on bard mobile.
