With Hands Free off, Voiceover goes to the earpiece. With it on, it works, but
if it says the wake word, it sometimes will put it into listen mode.

launch the Alexa app? Amazon has had definite issues with their apps not
working as expected for Voiceover users. With the recent update to the Amazon

Thanks for the tip I’m moving to the home screen and back to the app. Also the
change in settings that has fixed it thanks a bunch

I've had this problem for several months. I get things working by getting focus
away from the app and back again.

Yes this is a known bug with the app. Usually if you go back to the home screen
and then back into the app from the app should be back to normal.
