RE: App Store Not Saying Updates Available

2020-05-24 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
That is not true, I just touch the App Store icon on my iPhone 8 and Voiceover
said “App Store, 1 update available”.
When I touched it a bit earlier it did not indicate that there was an update
and when I now opened the App Store and went to the “My Account” button, it
also said “My account, 1 update available”.
The icon still says how many updates you have, but I find it often won’t show
until I go into the App Store and refresh or I simply have to wait long enough,
if I don’t look for say several days it will say there are updates.
I have also experienced when it said, for example, “2 updates available” and
after I opened the App Store and refreshed the list there would suddenly be 5
or 6 more updates, if at that point I exit out to the home screen Voiceover
will then correctly announce the number of updates.

No there is no longer the numeric indicator on the app store app

I find that if I have auto updates turned on that they do update automatically

However I can also go in and under my account there is an update button and a
list of app updates possible att hat time.

Mike,

You're correct that the Automatic updates setting under Settings, General,
Software update is different than the one found under Your name, iTunes and App
store, and App updates found under the Automatic updates heading. The former
pertains to iOS updates while the latter pertains to your other installed apps.
I thought if you had automatic updates turned on for app updates, that they
would automatically download without any action on your part. However, I've
always had that turned off so I'm not the best person to ask. I don't believe
cellular data has anything to do with the automatic app update setting.

As someone else posted, it seems logical that if you have automatic app updates
turned on, the need for a numerical badge giving the number of app updates when
focus is on the App store icon would be unnecessary. However, that doesn't seem
to be your experience and I can understand the badge if timing has anything to
do with the update download.

They are definitely two separate settings. I, like Allen always turn any
automatic updates off. I believe you can save yourself some trouble by choosing
what you want to update and what you don’t and when.

RE: App Store Not Saying Updates Available

2020-05-23 Thread Dennis Long
I also get it and never turn on automatic updates. I might not get it the
minute a update is available but it will show. I don’t have automatic updates
on for one very good reason. If an update breaks accessibility you have no
way to go back.

My phone will say there are so many updates available. Then i go in to the app

even more, if they are available.

Then i double tap, on the update all button.

Hello,

I am late to this thread. If I understand the question, no number appears
beside the AppStore icon when there are app updates available?

If so, might the notification option to display badges be turned off for the
AppStore? This would prevent the display of the number. Check under...
settings / notifications / appStore

Apologies if I am missing the question.

Indeed, this is a very secure option to turn automatic updates off because some
apps temporarily become very inaccessible after an update. However, for
security reasons when no problems are reported, make sure to update your apps
on a regular basic even if you do it manually, especially for banking apps.

If you go into updates, and none are showing, do a three finger swipe down to
refresh the screen.
You may find there are updates that just had not been ready long enough to have
shown up on the icon.

This is weird. As of iOS 13, I have never seen how many updates I have. I just
have to do a check every day to see what updates I get. It is not a huge deal

store, and do a 3 finger swipe down, to refresh the page, which can bring up
even more, if they are available.

Then i double tap, on the update all button.

Check to see if automatic updates is on. Sometimes these settings just get
changed when the IOS updates are installed.

Hi All,

With my new SE 2020 I noticed that when there's available updates voiceover is
not reporting there are updates when I touch the App Store icon on the Home
Screen. I have the App store turned on in Notifications and in Siri
suggestions. What am I missing? How do I get Voiceover to report when there
are available updates? Thanks mooy moocho.

Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool.

Re: App Store Not Saying Updates Available

2020-05-22 Thread Mike B.
I went into the iTunes & App Store settings on my old SE phone and changed
the settings on the new SE 2020 phone to match. Under the heading,
automatic downloads I now have Music, Apps and App updates set to, Off.
Under the cellular data heading, I now have automatic downloads turned, On,
for downloading apps using cellular data I have set to, always ask, and the
Video autoplay is set to, Off. Hopefully the couple of changes I made was
the problem for app updates not being reported by Voiceover. Thank you very
much for your input.

Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool.

Hello,

Go to settings/your name/iTune store and appstore/update and see if it's
selected or not
