2020-10-02 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
I'm talking about the audible app. If you go to your audible library
on the website it is very easy to go to the title of a book in your
library and if it is part of a series you will be told if your book is
in a series and what number in the series your book is. There is also
a direct link to go to a series page where you can check all the books
in a series and you can quickly ffind out if you have all the books in
a series in your audible library. You can't do this if you use the
audible app. I sent a message to www.audible.com/greatideas
suggesting that they do something about this. If I want to read a
series in order, why should I have to go to my audible library on the
audible website to find out what order certain books are in a series,
and if the book I'm listening to is part of a series, or a stand alone
book.

I agree with Barbara. I used to convert audible books with inaudible,
but the audible app is so easy to use and is like you said, very
accessible. However, I hope they find a better way to get books that
are part of a series easier to find and listen to in your library. It
isn't worth going through all the hassle of download, converting,
uploading then adding an audible book to VDR. I've got close to a
terabyte of converted audible books and if I wanted to listen to such
a book, I'd just use my stream to listen to the book or purchase it
and get it back on my library if I wanted it on my iPhone. I've got a
great deal with audible where I can get 3 audible credits for around
$30. You also have the audible plus catalog which gives you books for
free, and beginning November first, Audible Escape titles will be
added to audible plus and will be free and you could keep them if you
wanted.

Just for the record, if this is conversion software, unless audible has changed
its customer agreement, using such shock software is in fact a violation of
their service terms. That’s why they put the DRM there in the first place.
when you purchase a book from Amazon or Audible or any of these other places
that “sell“ stuff with DRM on it, you do not own it. They can, in fact, take it
away if their agreements with publishers change. So, no. It is not legal. That
is unless the customer agreement that you agreed to when you signed up for
Audible has changed. I doubt it.

Assuming that the audible 197 is some sort of conversion software, I would like
to note that it is far easier and more convenient to use the audible app.
You would need to install the audible software on your computer, download the
books, then convert them with this software and then import or otherwise put
them in the voice dream reader app. In
I used to do this with different software in order to play audible books on my
mp 3 player before I had an iphone. its a somewhat long and involved process.
in contrast, with the audible app, you just download the book and then start
listening. You can move by chapter or in 30 second increments. I am actually
really impressed with the accessability of this app. I can easily rewind and
fastforward even when the locked screen is up or even completely locked via
headphones or speakers.
With most other apps, trying to rewind with the buttons on headphones or
speakers moves back at least a chapter rather than just 30 seconds or so.
I guess I am saying why go through the trouble of importing the books to voice
dream reader when there's the easy to use audible app.

If you want your Audible books on VDR, give InAudible 1.97 a look. You already

Duh!
I think we all know that.
If you actually read what I wrote I was specific that Libro.fm is an
alternative to Audible. Librovox, not only having a completely different name,
is a completely different option.

You might be better off using the app, but if you want the Voice Dream Reader
controls, it would be worth trying it out.
I plan to try adding libro.fm just to see if it works since I have joined that
instead of audible since Libro.fm gives half of the money to a local bookstore
of your choice.
Their app is fine, but if I could have the books in Voice dream more easily,
great!
The nice thing about Libro.fm is that they are MP3 files, no DRM, so you can

I'm better off using the app. see below:

The LibriVox Audio Books app makes it easy to search for free audio books, as
well as classic radio dramas. You can browse by title, author or genre, look
at new recordings, or search by keyword. Because the books are free, you can
listen to as much or as little of a book as you like with no cost.
The app remembers your position, so when you return to a book later, you can
start listening at the place where you left off, and includes a sleep timer for
your convenience.

Re: Libro.fm Re: Does Voice dream Reader now support librivox

2020-09-30 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
I don't have any local bookstores in my area I could support by using
them, but I want the books more then helping the bookstores although
that is a very unique thing that an audio book distributor does and is
very cool. If they were able to have a cheaper price when it came to
getting credits, then I'd use them. I can also get my audible files
smaller then I can with the libro.fm audio books. Although there app
is very accessible and works quite well. It is great that we have
audio book options.

Libro.fm Re: Does Voice dream Reader now support librivox

2020-09-30 Thread Richard Turner
They have just as many books as chudible, minus the exclusive Audible content.
No, they do not have the option to buy a year or two worth of credits up front
for a discounted price.
But unlike Audible, your local bookstore gets half of the price of the boo.
So, it is a choice, each person who purchases books needs to make for
themselves.
One person's problem, is another person's feature.

RE: Does Voice dream Reader now support librivox

2020-09-30 Thread Richard Turner
You might be better off using the app, but if you want the Voice Dream Reader
controls, it would be worth trying it out.
I plan to try adding libro.fm just to see if it works since I have joined that
instead of audible since Libro.fm gives half of the money to a local bookstore
of your choice.
Their app is fine, but if I could have the books in Voice dream more easily,
great!
The nice thing about Libro.fm is that they are MP3 files, no DRM, so you can
play them in any app.

I see, you have to add it as a web source?

I'm better off using the app. see below:

The LibriVox Audio Books app makes it easy to search for free audio books, as
well as classic radio dramas. You can browse by title, author or genre, look
at new recordings, or search by keyword. Because the books are free, you can
listen to as much or as little of a book as you like with no cost.
The app remembers your position, so when you return to a book later, you can
start listening at the place where you left off, and includes a sleep timer for
your convenience.

Russ, if I go to my add option librivox is one of the choices.
Richard is correct you do have to go to settings then content sources
and add it in there, but once that is done it should show up in the
add options list.

RE: Does Voice dream Reader now support librivox

2020-09-30 Thread Richard Turner
Go to content sources under settings, go to add a web content source at the
bottom, start typing lib in the text field and flick right and it will show up
there.
Beyond that, I cannot say much.

ON another list I belong to, some one says that his voice dream reader supports
librivox under the add option?
Is this true?
