RE: Helping my Sighted Mom with her iPhone
Apps are icons for sighted people, but the text is still there also. For example, the Phone app is a small picture of a telephone, but it still says "Phone". -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Rob Sent: Wednesday, December 30, 2015 7:14 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: Helping my Sighted Mom with her iPhone I heard this recently on a podcast somewhere. Re: Helping my Sighted Mom with her iPhone
Hi Dani, There really isn't a sighted equivalent to Voiceover gestures. If you are fully sighted, you use the Siri feature to dictate text or to ask questions and then you visually read the responses on the screen. The Voiceover is usually never activated. I would suggest that you show your mother how you use the Iphone with voiceover and have her look at the screen while you are using it so that she can visually see what you are doing. With respect to the Mail app, it is easy to set up if she already has another email account. If she doesn't have email, it might be a good idea to set up the Mail app if this is how your sister is sending her messages. I don't think that the mail app will accept email messages if there is no email address designated for the mail app on her Iphone. Hope this helps a little.
