I'm not experiencing this problem myself. I have an iPhone SE 2nd gen running
iOS14, and the MagicTap gesture is starting and stopping Overcast playback with
no problems so far.

I cannot duplicate this issue.
I just tested it on my first gen SE running the release of iOS 14 as well as
my SE 2nd generation running the beta, and both work fine with the magic tap.
Maybe clear out the app switcher and try again?
