Maria, I have noticed that there are more blank spaces between videos. I guess this goes back to the "new design" of YouTube. Also, I was having issues with the collapse button on an iPhone 7 Plus with latest version of app, but I deleted and reinstalled it and all appears to be working now.

Thanks for the tip about the Play and Close buttons at the bottom, I hadn't noticed those yet. Collapsing the video for me at least seems pretty obvious because even though it continues playing Voiceover also talks and if you touch the screen you notice you are back on the home screen.
