It is for scanning anything that is in print.
Which is what Text Grabber should do, but Voice Dream Scanner does a better job.
If the cost is an issue,  try Seeing AI, which is free and can do either 
immediate reading of anything in view of the camera, or it has a document 
channel that will scan a page.
Prizmo go is also free and can do a quick scan of a page, etc.

It depends what kind of printed material you are wanting to scan.
Perhaps you could give examples of printed items you want to get access to and 
we could give more specific recommendations.

immediate reading of anything in view of the camera, or it has a document

Prizmo go is also free and can do a quick scan of a page, etc.

It depends what kind of printed material you are wanting to scan.
Perhaps you could give examples of printed items you want to get access to and 
we could give more specific recommendations.

And I have to admit I used voice dream scanner yesterday for the first time 
ever and I was very impressed with it.

I was until then a KNFb user or seeing AI  but voice drean scanner was great,

It let me find the product I wanted on the shelf in the store I was in without 
needing to have sighted assistance as the sales people were to busy standing 
around talking to the checkout chick

I’ve got no problem in saying that voicedream scanner is the way to go even for 
the price you pay for it.

You may want to try Seeing AI first.
It also has a product channel that tries to identify the bar code, but the 
short text mode which reads anything the camera is pointing at can help with 
other things.
The document mode should work reasonably well for letters once you have opened 
the mail.
If that works for you, then you won’t need to buy an app.

It depends what kind of printed material you are wanting to scan.
Perhaps you could give examples of printed items you want to get access to and
