I find the desktop version of iTunes which you can download from Apple works
much better than the Microsoft Store version.

I’ll try it again. I’m using the newest version of iTunes from the Microsoft
Store since I’m using a newer version of windows. JAWS works with it but is a
little finicky with iTunes. But I’m still working at it.

It does.

Did you follow the instructions and tab to the spot where you could either
arrow down or type t to Tones, then tab over through there to where you can
paste the m4r files?

You are only using iTunes to allow you to paste the tones onto the phone.
Apple no longer requires you to sync tones…

Once you have them in m4r format, Here is mark Taylor's instructions on copying
Ringtones with iOS 12.7 and later.

In iTunes 12.7 for Windows, it is no longer necessary to actually use the file
menu to import ringtones. In fact,

attempting to do so will gain you nothing. (smile). So, to add a ringtone to
your device, using Windows Explorer, copy the file to memory using the

standard windows command of Control+C.

Next, with iTunes 12.7 in focus, your iOS device attached to your PC and

tab, located in the iTunes Sidebar. Oh, make sure that you have iTunes set to
display the Sidebar.

Now, once you have the Tones tab selected, press the Tab key on your keyboard
until you land in the list view of currently installed custom

ringtones. Then, simply use the paste command, Control+V, to add the ringtone
to your device.

By the way, you will notice that, as you tab around the tones area, you will
land on an actions button. You can use this button to act on the currently

selected ringtone, such as playing it.

To delete a ringtone, you must place focus on the particular ringtone you wish
to remove from your device, and press the delete key. Neither the

Even the Actions button will not offer a delete choice. The only way to remove

RE: Ringtones question

2021-12-01 Thread Richard Turner
If you search online for mp3 to m4r conversion, one result is
https://convertio.co/mp3-m4r/

I have not used it as I have GoldWave and use it because I know it but it has
several steps involved, so wouldn't recommend it for a newcomer.

I'm sure there are other conversion programs/sites.

Next, with iTunes 12.7 in focus, your iOS device attached to your PC and
selected, using standard jaws navigation commands, place focus on the Tones

tab, located in the iTunes Sidebar.

Neither the

Application button nore the Jaws right-mouse click will work, at this time.

Even the Actions button will not offer a delete choice. The only way to remove
the ringtone, at the time of this writing is to either press the

Delete key on the keyboard, or press the right mouse button on your mouse
and/or touch pad.

Subject: Ringtones question
Importance: High

So the last time I owned an iPhone, the "tones" folder was in existence and
made it very easy for me to put my ringtones on my iPhone, especially those mp3
ringtones which I have many, and need to convert to the appropriate format.
But now I see the "tones" folder is no longer in existence in iTunes, what
recommendations would anyone have for porting over a significantly large number
of already sized but not converted ringtones from mp3 to an appropriate format
for iPhone?

Re: ringtones question

2021-03-06 Thread Richard Turner
Which is why I mentioned that there are online services that will do this, and
trusted they could look them up.
I guess I'm not as generous as you, grin.

Richard

"You know," said Arthur, "it's at times like this, when I'm trapped in a Vogon
airlock with a man from Betelgeuse, and about to die of asphyxiation in deep
space, that I really wish I'd listened to what my mother told me when I was
young."
"Why, what did she tell you?"

But if you don't have GoldWave and have never used it it is much easier to just

"Converting M4R to MP3"
For me the first search result was the Zamzar website, you also don't have to
rename the file from M4R to M4A.
When I tried it I simply clicked the button to select my M4R file, use "B" to
find it, after that I had a drop-down combo box where I could select the format
I wanted to convert to, MP3 was already selected and then there was just the
Convert buton. After I pressed it, I got this message:

Zamzar - File Conversion progress
Alert!
Hang tight - download links will appear shortly...

After a few seconds the file was converted and the "Download" button was there,
after activating it I was asked what I wanted to do with the file, but that
depends on your download settings. I have Chrome and Edge set up to ask me
where I want to save my files, if you had it set up to simply save to the
Downloads folder then after activating the button it would just download, for
me I press F6 and then arrow from "Open" to "Save" and select where I want to
save it.
I love these online converters, there is nothing to install, nothing to learn
and you can find converters which pretty much can convert anything into
anything.
GoldWave I am sure is easy to use for people like Richard who have used it for
years, if you had never used it you would probably spend 20 minutes trying to
figure it out.

Sieghard

Yes, first, change the extension from M for our 2M for a. Then you can convert
it to an MP3 and most conversion programs or online.

RE: ringtones question

2021-03-06 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
But if you don't have GoldWave and have never used it it is much easier to just
use an online converter, Zamzar.com works well or just do a Google search for
"Converting M4R to MP3"

Best regards,
Sieghard

If you are using a Windows computer, GoldWave can do this and you do not have
to change the file extension first.
Plus, Goldwave has a batch process so you could convert a bunch of files at
once to mp3.
There are other programs and online services that can do this.
