HI Mike,
Yes he does have another computer that he uses that those accounts on and I
have looked in the past and all seemed right, but I'm going to look again
and hope I find something, because that is all I can think that might be
wrong. Otherwise, his accounts are set up like mine and mine does just what
it is supposed to do.

  I Kay,

On your phone you should be able to dig deeper in to the POP 3 account
settings,

I can’t remember exactly but it’s off one of the mail box addresses in
this case incoming (pop3) address that takes you in to more settings /
features for the account,

Have a look and see what you can find.

Sorry I no longer have a pop account to try this with.

As far as I am concerned, such setting does not exist from a mail client.
Things must be changed on the server side IE. Gmail.com if that is the email

I have seen settings in the past for pop3 where emails will be moved to the
mail client but keep the copy on the server side.

If you want emails to be deleted on the mail client and server side, imap

Re: an email or gmail question

2020-08-28 Thread Kay Malmquist
Here is the strange part of the whole thing. On my computer I have, save
messages on the server for one day. That way if I look on my iphone, after
I have checked my messages on the computer, they will still be there. But
after that day is up, they will disappear from my iPhone because they are
off the server. If I delete the messages from my computer they go off the
server right away and I don't get them on my iPhone. But even if they are
still on the server, my iphone will not retrieve them again. Yes, I do
have a pop account and not an imap. I just want to know where he might go
to find a setting that will not let his iPhone retrieve messages he has
already read. I hope this makes some sense.

pop three is the problem here. If your email service provider allows you,
you may want to consider to switch to IMAP configuration. This will allow
the server to sync with your mail app

As far as I am concerned, such setting does not exist from a mail client.
Things must be changed on the server side IE. Gmail.com if that is the email
provider.
I have seen settings in the past for pop3 where emails will be moved to the
mail client but keep the copy on the server side.
If you want emails to be deleted on the mail client and server side, imap
configuration is what you want. This can be changed on the server side via

there should be a setting in your email client that says something like delete

RE: an email or gmail question

2020-08-28 Thread Dennis Long
In the mail settings there is a option for how long to keep the email. I would
also look at a third party email client.

Subject: an email or gmail question

Hi all,

I have a strange one for you. I am trying to figure out why when my husband
goes through his emails on his phone and deletes them and even empties the
trash folder, when he goes back in to read more, these emails come back. Is
there anywhere on the phone that you can turn off to save a copy of messages on
server? It looks like that is what is happening. He is using pop 3. Or do
you have any other ideas? Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

Pop3 is not the problem.

pop three is the problem here. If your email service provider allows you, you
may want to consider to switch to IMAP configuration. This will allow the
server to sync with your mail app
