Re: two finger swipe up; was RE: Fleksy

I think this is because Fleksy is making use of iOS's direct touch feature.
Note that this is not the same as direct touch typing.

RE: two finger swipe up; was RE: Fleksy

2016-04-18 Thread Alan Lemly
Chip,

You are right that a 2-finger swipe up generally invokes reading of the entire
screen or page by VoiceOver. I guess keyboard app developers have some leeway
with the use of gestures since a 2-finger swipe up on the Fleksy minimal
keyboard will switch to the Fleksy spacebar keyboard. By the same token, a
2-finger swipe down in the Fleksy keyboard area will insert a new line and also
switch from the Fleksy spacebar keyboard to the Fleksy minimal keyboard where
this gesture in the rest of iOS causes Voiceover to read the remainder of the
page from your current location.

Michael,

Fleksy has two different keyboards, the default one which includes a spacebar
and has a layout similar to the standard iOS keyboard and minimal one without
the spacebar which resembles that of the original Fleksy app later renamed
Fleksy VO. If you're using the default spacebar Fleksy keyboard, there is a
button immediately to the left of the spacebar that should allow you to switch
to the standard keyboard. What is presented with this button depends on your
Fleksy keyboard settings so you might have to rest your finger on that button
and slide to hear the options it presents. If you're using the minimal Fleksy
keyboard, you'll need to do a two-finger swipe up in the keyboard area to
switch to the Fleksy spacebar keyboard where you can access that button to the
left of the spacebar.

Hi Chip,

That's true, except in some apps. For instance, if you're reading an email and
do it to flick up it will read the text of the email and not all the header
information.

It’s difficult to keep that straight, as I am not doing a lot of heavy reading
on my iPhone.

Apparently these gestures do have different meanings in the context of the
keyboard discussion we are having.

I have thought about this Fleksy keyboard but haven’t gotten it, and if I can
get the Braille input down I might not need it for those times when my
Bluetooth keyboard isn’t with me.
