Re: Ring Door Bell
Re: Ring Door Bell Hello everyone, Thank you so much to Cristoble, Holly, and robin for offering their knowledge regarding the ring doorbell and how it works. I really appreciate it. I have read all the responses from others who had some questions as well. I didn't respond right away, because my boyfriend and I were getting settled in to our new place. It's certainly been an adventure. We talked with our landlord and he doesn't have an issue at all with us getting a ring. I was concerned about this, due to us renting. But he even said he would be glad to install it for us. So I am very grateful. I plan to purchase the ring 2, sense I can get the rechargeable battery. Also, while I will use the ring with my iPhone, I am very happy to know that I can use it with my echo dot as well. I was willing to purchase an echo show if I needed to do so. But glad this isn't the case. Thanks again for all the help, and thoughts. It's very appreciated. You can talk to whoever is at your door via the app and review your history of alerts. Something you may want to consider and if I had to do it over again, I'd probably opt for the Nest Doorbell is that with the Nest, I believe there's facial recognition. I know there's a big uproar with privacy issues and big brother and all, but being blind, being able to tag people I think would be super useful. Right now with the ring, it's just the motion sensor alert. In my case, my wife is sighted so it's not really an issue, but if you're by yourself or don't have a pare of working eyeballs always available, this might be something to give serious consideration to. Hi Mike, I don't even think the two apps have to be on the same device you just have to know the log in for the ring account to link it when the princess skill takes you to where it wants to go for account linking to enter it. But you can also be added as a user to the ring app and then you too could have it on your device as well. I hope that helps. Take good care. Re: Ring Door Bell
So I just set up the ring.com skill with my dot, and when I say "talk to the front door" alexa says it doesn't support that. Any ideas? I would love to have this skill work. Re: Ring Door Bell
hi Robin: Is this a recent upgrade to the echo dot? I didn’t think it was possible to talk to the door without an echo show or an echo spot. I know you will get an alert, but don’t think you can have two way communication without a screen device. I got a ring doorbell about a year ago, and had to upgrade to an echo spot to get two way communication to the doorbell. You can talk from dot to dot, but not to the doorbell. -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list. RE: Ring Door Bell
It's gotten better and is pretty much completely accessible at this point. It's connected to your home WIFI. This is where having a good solid connection matters. The Ring doorbell Pro I got I bought back in 2017. It started to give me problems after a year. Buffering, dropping etc. I just chalked it up to the Ring being a crappy product. I have an Eero mesh system and am on a 200 MB plan so I knew it couldn’t be my WIFI. It finally ended up dying on me last year (beyond the warranty). TO my surprise, when I reached out to Ring, they replaced it after confirming that the device died. I guess I must have gotten a new model internals wise because with this replacement, live streaming and everything else has worked perfectly fine.
