To perform the scrub gesture, pretend like you’re wiping off a smudge on your
iPhone screen. Place two fingers in the upper left hand corner of the screen,
swipe them to the right, then the left and down and finally back to the right.

Hi all,
I just updated my iPhone 7 yesterday. To my dismay, I found the scrub
gesture no longer works to exit braille screen input.
I seem to recall there is some way to define this gesture so I can
still use it. Is this true? And if so would someone list the steps for
me?
And finally, why

Walter, yes, that's the best
Walter, yes, that's the best way to explain it. I tried doing a gesture
that looks like a print Z because that's how the two finger scrub was always
explained, but I could never do it.
I usually use two fingers as if I were going to stop/start playing audio and
touch the screen about 3 quarters
I don't use the scrub gesture. What is it's uses? Maybe then I might actually
give it a go.

Yes, I do similarly and maybe go a little in the diagonal.
You'll get it.

Hi Charles,
You suggestion to use the practice area of Voiceover is good, but using one
finger will not work because the scrub gesture requires 2 fingers.

together, move in a straight line from left to right,
then take these two fingers and go down in a diagonal motion from right to
left and then after you make this diagonal motion and are back again on the
right side,
go again
Or: you can do this in the VoiceOver Help, opened from anywhere with a
four-finger double-tap. The scrub movement will then close it!

Anyone have any tips for how to learn the srub gesture? It's been
described to me as tracing a quick Z on the screen with two fingers,
but I can't seem to get the gesture right.

The scrub gesture takes you back to the previous screen. I think it only
works in apps that support it though. It may just be user error on my
part, but I don't find it very reliable, e.g. I don't find it works in
every app.
