Hi Sieghard.

I’m not sure what I want to do yet. If the Treker Breeze does the same
things the Seeing Eye app does, it may be an option. As for using
another carrier besides ATT, is that possible with my iPhone, which
used to be with ATT. I also should have mentioned that I was outside
of my 2 year original contract, so it didn’t cost me anything to get rid
of the data plan.

Unlocking typically refers to allowing the phone to use SIM cards from
other carriers. This only applies to GSM phones, so it wouldn't apply to
a Verison phone.

You can unlock a Verison phone, but there's no guarantee that another
carrier will let you use it on their network. CDMA phones are locked
based on a carriers database and not the SIM card.

This just applies to GSM phones, so as Sieghard says in the message
you're replying to, it'll work with any GSM based carrier, such as ATT
 and T-Mobile.

 Hi Kevin,

If your contract is done you can contact ATT for official unlock
instructions, they are obligated by law to provide them and unlock your
phone. Once done your iPhone will work with any GSM carrier/SIM like
T-Mobile or MVNO's like Straight Talk. T-Mobile might be worth checking
into, I am in Canada and only know what I hear on the list and on
Podcasts like Today in iOS, but I believe they offer some less expensive
plans. Another advantage of unlocking your phone is that even an iPhone
4 when unlocked has a higher resale value and is easier to sell.

 Sieghard

 Hi Sieghard.

I'm not sure what I want to do yet. If the Treker Breeze does the same
things the Seeing Eye app does, it may be an option. As for using
another carrier besides ATT, is that possible with my iPhone, which
used to be with ATT. I also should have mentioned that I was outside
of my 2 year original contract, so it didn't cost me anything to get rid
 of the data plan.

2013-07-08 Thread Mike Arrigo
I prefer unlocked phones too, GSM is much more flexible since your account
information is stored on the sim card, and this can easily be moved to
different phones. This is why I don't like CDMA carriers like verizon and
sprint.
