How about:

Siri, launch maps - then, maybe the crook's whereabouts will be more definitely
pinpointed for a while anyway.

I believe on the back of your device should also be the serial number and IMEI
numbers,

But also something to check is what is listed in apples iTunes / iCloud under
the details of the devices you have activated against your apple id.

I'm glad that someone is telling everyone where the information is in your i
devices because it's very important that you have all this information,
including you're imei number, model number, even curret phone number. Actually
write downw this information in at least, more than one copy written on a
nonelectronic device. once again, if you're going to secure your apple devices
from people that would steal them, you must make them completely useless if
they do get stolen. however at this time this isn't the case. If the ones that
steal the devices can't use them they can definitely sell them for parts. But
if apple were to impliment my idea in future products, in the future, there
would be no need to sell them for parts because all the device and all the
parts in it would be bricked, and the only company that could do anything about
it would be apple.
At this time, with all current devices that isn't the case. In my opinion this
would be complete security. Yeah, with your face id and your touch id and
password, they may not be able to get into your phone, but they could still
teer it up and use it for parts, such as your screen and other parts.

It's kind of like this when it comes to tracking your phone, let's suppose
that the guy that steals the iPhone does it for a few different reasons.
Maybe he needs a new screen or if he needs a new battery. I think you're
getting the idea.If you do what I suggested before about sending a message

I'm not sure if this is possible, but I wanted to pose the question to the list
to find out.

I own an iPhone 8 running iOS 13.5.1.

Here's the scenario. You're using your iPhone while waiting outside for
an Uber pickup, then a thief snatches it out of your hand. They take off
running. You have only a few seconds to react, but normally you start
screaming "STOP THIEF" or something too that affect immediately.

How about you could simply say the phrase "Hey Siri: STOP THIEF"

Then Siri would do the following on your iPhone:

1. Activate the front camera and take a picture.

2. Activate the back camera and take a picture.

3. Upload a copy of those photos to the iCloud linked to your account.

4. Set screen brightness to 0.

5. Lock phone and screen.

6. Disable fingerprint sensor, so only inputting the correct pin will
unlock the phone.

7. Play a loud pitch Siren or alert notification sound at the highest
volume level.

8. Continue to secretly take a photo every 30 - 60 seconds using the
front and back camera, and upload the photos to the iCloud, not
overwriting the other photos.

Now maybe I'm coming off here sounding like a lunatic, but I feel that
such a Shortcut would be nice to have just in case you encounter a
situation like this.

Can this be done? If so, what are the steps?

Also is there a site or blog featuring useful iOS shortcuts members have
freely contributed. Ones you can easily import to the Shortcuts app on
your iPhone?

It's kind of like this when it comes to tracking your phone, let's suppose that
the guy that steals the iPhone does it for a few different reasons.
Maybe he needs a new screen or if he needs a new battery. I think you're
getting the idea.If you do what I suggested before about sending a message for
a brick command you could have a brick all command that would brick all the
conpponents in the phone, once again, only apple could unbrick all this.
I believe once word got around that criminals wouldn't be so interested in
stealing phones unless they just like taking things from people.

Hello All,

This is an interesting thread.

You can use iCloud to lock your phone and track it with the Find My App from
any device. You can simply log-in to https://icloud.com and lock the device
remotely and see it’s last location and when it was either connected to
Wifi or Cellular.

I remember years ago before biometric passwords were a thing, there was an app
that could take a picture via the front camera if an incorrect password was
typed in (taking a snapshot of the person typing) and uploaded to iCloud.
Have no idea what it was called anymore, but I have to believe that while maybe
your exact specifications may be more complicated, there's got to be something
to broadly cover these types of scenarios out there. Be it for a sighted or

Guess I'm hoping by screaming the word "Hey Siri: Stop Thief" the perp will
notice and hear the loud pitch notification sound and constant vibration
emitting from the iPhone. This will cause him too hopefully drop the phone.
You'll be able to locate it of course by tracking the sound.

Turning the finger print sensor off and setting the screen brightness to
0 will essentially make the phone unusable to the thief.

The goal with this Shortcut is too have Siri trigger a loud enough sound
or annoying vibration forcing the thief to think twice and drop your
iPhone while running. Since most savvy owners of an iPhone have a good
case on it, it shouldn't get damaged.

I mean if you have a creative enough mind, their our many ways you can
utilize the power of Shortcuts and Siri too protect you and the iPhone
with just a few trigger words.

I wonder if you could work that in to it also,

The finger print scanner on the phone or face id,
If the purp touched the finger print scanner or face id were used by the
scumbag,or attempted to be used,
It triggered something in the background that started a silent alarm which
alerted you as well.

It's kind of like this when it comes to tracking your phone, let's suppose
that the guy that steals the iPhone does it for a few different reasons.
Maybe he needs a new screen or if he needs a new battery. I think you're
getting the idea.If you do what I suggested before about sending a message
for a brick command you could have a brick all command that would brick all
the conpponents in the phone, once again, only apple could unbrick all this.
I believe once word got around that criminals wouldn't be so interested in
stealing phones unless they just like taking things from people.

This is an interesting thread.

You can use iCloud to lock your phone and track it with the Find My App from
any device. You can simply log-in to https://icloud.com and lock the device
remotely and see it’s last location and when it was either connected to
Wifi or Cellular.

Kenny, It would be good to say something to Siri that would be silly that
wouldn't mean anything to anyone, especially that person that just grabbed
your iPhone, such as some stupid phraise like "siri, grab my loaf of
bread.". This could be the shortcut to start working, if it could be
possible. Keep up the brainstorming. in a situation as this it would be
good to have something inplace.

Yes, I do understand that screaming a specific phrase to trigger Siri
Shortcuts would be problematic, especially when the perp is running away
from you.

Guess I'm brainstorming some ideas to rely on Siri to protect me, and my
iPhone when traveling alone.

These iOS Workflow shortcuts are really powerful. Using the ReddIt link
shared on this thread I'm learning more and more about them. Hope to come
up with something on my own I can share with the community.

RE: Using iOS Shortcuts to Deputize Siri?

2020-06-30 Thread Carolyn
My husband thinks that if anyone got my iPhone, they'd be so confused with
VoiceOver, and even more so if I had Screen Curtain on that they couldn't use
it.

They wouldn't know my access code, nor would they have my face, so it sounds
like a frustrating endeavor to the crook, but most annoying, frustrating and
anger provoking to me, if it should happen.

Problem: if they just tossed it, I couldn't use it either.

an Uber pickup, then a thief snatches it out of your hand. They take off

screaming "STOP THIEF" or something too that affect immediately.

How about you could simply say the phrase "Hey Siri: STOP THIEF"

Then Siri would do the following on your iPhone:

1. Activate the front camera and take a picture.

3. Upload a copy of those photos to the iCloud linked to your account.

4. Set screen brightness to 0.

5. Lock phone and screen.

8. Continue to secretly take a photo every 30 - 60 seconds using the
front and back camera, and upload the photos to the iCloud, not
overwriting the other photos.

Interesting thought,

But again, when the phone has been grabbed,
How do you then sen the brick code to the phone?

But take your idea a se\tep sideways slightly,

You send the code,
Then phone is put in to a somewhat bricked / locked state
But alerts both apples systems that the phone is also sending a gps alert to
your provider who can raise the alert to the police.

But then I'm guessing the cops would get so many alerts to stolen phones that
they'd ignore them after a few minutes.

But then as in this state it is most likely a form of assault then they should
be on to it.

Kenny, and, Simon, here's what to do suggest to apple to send a command to your
phone to brick it, and even if you got it back you wouldn't be able to unbrick
it. However it could be unbricked. that would be entirely up to apple. Can't
you just see this thug going into the apple store, asking for help with the
phone and pretty soon the police walk up behind him. I believe this is your
real security. As soon as the guy comes in the store there will be an alert
that the phone belongs to you, while they making out to the guy like they are
working on the phone, and someone else in the store would be calling the
police. If apple had it where you could send a code from either your apple
watch or another phone to send a specific brick code for your phone. I believe
if this was done right it would certainly discourage the thieves from stealing
iPhones or any other connected apple device. any thoughts?

I'm personally thinking what you are looking to do must be possible but I'm

that just grabbed your phone is doing a runner.

And thinking that if I grabbed a mobile device and started running, I'd

runners do!

You would have road noise possibly to take in to consideration,
Other background noises
The runner might have put your phone in to their pocket to free hands or

And of course your idea of the photo of the face depends on if the phone is

However if you have an apple watch especially one of the LTE models,
Could you not do some of this stuff from find my iphone via the watch?
Find my iPhone I've used to locate my watch from my phone so somewhat around
the opposite way to what you are looking for,

But you could trigger an alarm,
Lock the phone or wipe it if needed,
I'm not sure about photos but there must be something that could give you
that ability,
Infact I think there is built in to the watch but it's from the phones
camera so you can hold the phone up with the camera looking at something and
view it on the watch screen!

The other thing is if you use a caine you could throw it at the scumbag like
a javlyn / speer,
Or if it's a broken down in to sections folding cain, throw it at their legs
as they run so it might trip them and then you could kick the shit out of
them while they lye there trying to free themselves,

Or if you use a dog, teach it to chase the bad guy like a police dog!
That one I'd like to see happen!

Sorry most of this isn't going to do what you are looking for but just some
ideas looking from a somewhat different angle

Good luck and I hope you can figure something out

Using iOS Shortcuts to Deputize Siri?

2020-06-29 Thread Kenny
I'm not sure if this is possible, but I wanted to pose the question to
the list to find out.

Now I realize this list is filled with a bunch of people just looking
for a reason to ridicule member's who post any question they personally
deem as "Dumb." I'm hoping you will simply ignore/delete this thread and
don't even bother posting a reply if you happen to be one of them.

I'm not posting this question to be ridiculed, but too get informed.
Nothing more.

Thanks.

-Kenny
