Yep, I've had the same issues. I want to like this app but the dictation feature is useless and it seems like the data base for recipes is lacking. For those who have the Echo, AllRecipes is now available. So you can ask Alexa to search for a recipe, for example, and she will start suggesting recipes. Once you find one you want, you can ask for the ingredients, directions, reviews, etc. She will pause after each step in the directions and let you resume when you are ready for the next step. That is why I mentionned it in the Yes Chef discussion, because I think that was an app you could interact with using your voice, if I recall correctly. I got rid of the app because of the problems mentionned here.
