Re: what is the use of Character count in Messaging?

2013-12-28 Thread Cris Ali
Hi Sieghard,
I know that this feature used to work in iOS 6. However, I have not noticed
that it did not work in iOS 7 until yesterday, That is why I wrote the group.
Perhaps if anyone is still using iOS 6 could verify this for us so that we can
tell apple accessibility about it.

Cheers,

Cris

Subject: RE: what is the use of Character count in Messaging?

Hi Chris,

Character Count only shows for actual text messages, it does not show for
iMessages where the 160 character count does not apply. I think, by the way,
that for most carriers it’s 160 carriers, not 140 which I think is the Twitter
limit for a message.

Anyhow, if you turned it on, you should hear Voiceover announce the character
count if you swipe past the Sent button. It used to be before the Sent button
in iOS 6, but now it’s after.

OK, interestingly enough I just started a text message to somebody and it did
not show, but I know for sure that just a few days ago I saw it when I swiped
past the Sent button.

Regards,

Sieghard

Subject: what is the use of Character count in Messaging?

hello folks,

the subject says it all. I set Character count in messages to on. I assumed
it would tell me the number of the characters I typed in the message before I
send it. Most carriers set a limit of 140 characters in each message, if one
goes beyond this number the message would be partitioned into two. This way
the person may pay more in carriers fees than intended. However, I could not
find out where and how I would know the number of the Characters I type.

Does anyone know how to make this work?

Cheers,

Cris
