The map data is from Navteq, the same as the APH Android app, but Mike may mentioned the Mapquest engine as what they are based on, so I suspect they are not simply trusting the Mapquest system to get them from point a to point b, but I'm not a programmer, so asking Sendero Group for more details

Navigon updates are kind of free. You can opt to pay for more frequent map updates as I understand it. I don't like Navigon because here in Portland, OR, it thinks the city is Lake Jeanclia, which may explain why so many addresses don't show up. I've deleted the app and reinstalled it and it
