Deleting messages in voice dream mail

Hey gang; I installed Voice Dream mail but am having difficulty deleting messages as the help would suggest. According to the help, swiping down once will delete the current message. However, I find myself dealing with the voiceover menus instead. Can anybody offer any advice or suggestions?

This may be slightly off-topic, but it is regarding KNFB reader. In the MacVisionaries podcast they mentioned that there was a free trial version available of KMFB reader, but when I went into the App store I could not find any button for anything but the paid version. What am I missing?
