ActiView is a joke, it has I think 3 movies and the selection has not changed
in months.

ActiView was such an app. The problem with these types of apps is that though
many people want to use them in the theaters instead of the receivers, it seems
that the apps that have come out, support a very small number of movies. I used
the Disney Movies Anywhere app in 2016 to see Finding Dory in a theater that
did not have description. That was an amazing experience and the app just
worked like it was supposed to. Though Disney promised that one could use it
for other types of Disney, Pixar, or Star Wars movies, I tried to use it for
the 2015 Star Wars film on DVD, and it did not work. That app has since been
discontinued.

2018-02-17 Thread Evan Reese
Yup, we’re having the same problem with our devices in the theater we go to.
They used to work great, but now, when the jacks to the headphones aren’t
cutting out, which is pretty often, the audio track hums and the volume of the
description is inaudible when the movie is in a louder section. We’ve told them
about it twice now, so we’ll see if they’ve fixed it the next time we go. I’m
not all that confident myself.
Unfortunately, having only an iPad, I probably won’t be able to use the app,
unless I can get on the Internet over a wi-fi network in, or near, the theater.
Still, it would be nice to know about such an app if it exists.

I am looking for an AP which will allow me to pick up the descriptive signals
when I am in a movie theater featuring descriptive audio.
I have seen a couple but they only sync up the file on the phone to play it
back when you are in the movie theater. I want something that will replace the
receivers that they pass out at the theater, because they don't work most of
the time.
I remember Disney was experimenting with one, but I never heard anything else
about it.
