RE: Emergency Preparedness - National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS) | Library of Congress

2020-09-18 Thread M. Taylor
Okay, everyone,

This thread is to be terminated, immediately.

I am not going to lecture anyone about how political comments have no place in
this environment but I am informing you that members who insist on posting
their personal opinions about politics will lose their unmonitored posting
privileges until such time as he/she can assure Cara and me that she/he will
refrain from contributing such posts, in the future.

So, do not reply to this post, on-list; as this thread stops now.

Thank you,

Mark

Even in 2005 wich was another really bad year. We didn't even make it to this
many hurricanes so soon. The reality is we are killing the planet and we are
seeing how things will play out if we continue. I really need to start looking
into the best weather apps, honestly thought we was going to get Salley here,
and that would have been a mess after having Laura tare up the southwest part
of the state.

2020-09-18 Thread Richard Turner
I will avoid the politics even though I have 1000% opposite view of Rena, but
the fires in the west happen pretty much yearly; but never, ever, ever to this
level.
I’ve lived on the west coast for 66 years.
And, this is the earliest we have ever gotten to this many hurricanes.

So, if you are a thinking person, there is cause for concern.

The hurricanes in the south east occur every year, during the hurricane season
June/November, so nothing new.
The fires in the west are not new either, as they happen frequently due to
several factors.
Trump is something good that happens to this country since a long-long time ago.
To sum up, there’s nothing to worry about, at least not about these 3 things.

Possibly a little too late for the Oregon Washington and California fires, but
here's a resource I was just alerted to that might be helpful for people
planning in all kinds of emergencies in the future.
It is from the library of Congress website.

I also wish people would avoid politics because half of the audience will
always be pissed as I am when people knock Trump.

Possibly a little too late for the Oregon Washington and California fires, but
here's a resource I was just alerted to that might be helpful for people
planning in all kinds of emergencies in the future.

It is from the library of Congress website.

RE: Emergency Preparedness - National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS) | Library of Congress

2020-09-18 Thread Rena
The hurricanes in the south east occur every year, during the hurricane season
June/November, so nothing new.

The fires in the west are not new either, as they happen frequently due to
several factors.

Trump is something good that happens to this country since a long-long time ago.

To sum up, there’s nothing to worry about, at least not about these 3 things.

Yeah well… the respite was short lived. Back up to 150 AQI. Not Oregon
apocalypse, but not fun either. Everything’s closed up again. We were lucky to
have purchased an air purifier a few weeks ago before there was a run on them.
We looked at a few Bluetooth models and naturally, they were all at least $100
more for comparable specs. We ended up settling on a Honeywell without
Bluetooth.
There were some recent articles on Motherboard (Vice) and the LA Times on how
to DIY air purifiers in case anyone’s feeling handy and can’t find any in
stock.

Its still “very unhealthy” here at 222.

Subject: Emergency Preparedness - National Library Service for the Blind and
Print Disabled (NLS) | Library of Congress

Possibly a little too late for the Oregon Washington and California fires, but
here's a resource I was just alerted to that might be helpful for people
planning in all kinds of emergencies in the future.
It is from the library of Congress website.

You are lucky.
Its still “very unhealthy” here at 222.

Good thing our air purifier showed up Tuesday. It’s keeping the house
tolerable.

No joke. The AQI here finally dropped under 100 in I don’t know how long. We
flung open all the windows to breathe in some of that “moderate” air. You take
